Hi,
I drive a GU II 4.5 L dual fuel Patrol and recently towing my 2.3T van up long steep hills e.g. Mt. Ousley south of
Sydney, it was like I had the brake on - down to 1500 revs and 10 kph in first!!
Nissan found that it was a blocked catalytic converter in the emission control system - and once replaced, Mt. Ousley going
home was no problem at all.
The Patrol has done 110 K Km, approx. 30 K Km on dual fuel, using ULP after every 3rd or 4th tank of gas.
Can anyone tell me, please, what causes the blockage and how to avoid it in future. The replacement converter cost me $500 plus $170 for trouble shooting!!
Thanks for your help.
Pete

Hi A Peter
We come across a few every now and again but mostly on older cars.
Usually when the engine is worn and using oil or blowing smoke can cause them to break down or if you use leaded fuel they won't last long. Obviously you didn't use the second as you can't buy it any more.
Do you use good quality fuel?
I have had the odd one just melt down and I couldn't honestly say why.
We have had alot of bad fuel over the past 2 years which have contributed to lots of expensive dramas for customers. I can't stress how important it is to buy good quality fuel.
Sorry I'm not much help.

HI ,I can tell you how to eliminate this ever happening again but unfortunatly can not due to the absolute disbelief of members and their derogative remarks. So Peter have a look at the add that appears on the right side of this
forum and whey it up fo yourself.www.fitchcatalyst.com.au . Never change an exhaust catalyst again.
This was submitted by a user of the product not BILLS and I might add a happy user.

My clutch needs replacing every 150k km's. Do you think a fuctch could extend the interval to 750k km's?

Bill S are surgesting that fitting a Fitch makes it legal to tamper or remove a cat?
Or a Fitch will stop a cat destroying it self if a Lamda sensor dies??
Bill S Ive tired for five minutes to come with with this in a nice polite manner ... here goes
