This is the thread to boast on your kick azz mechanic. (It's also a way for me to get some good advice without directly asking ;)) So everyone, who is the guy (or girl) who keeps you out of the ditch, cracking your EPIRB and drinking your reserve water? Who keeps your monster ripp'n over any moutain range or desert? Who does what you hate doing (frick'n brakes and trannies suck) or helps you when you're too damn lazy?
A good mechanic is about the equivalent of finding a good woman (or man for you girls out there)...the difference being when you find a good woman you don't want to share her with all your mates lol. So stand up and shout.....shout about your mechanic!!!
I need a "good woman" in
Sydney so please help me out ;)

I'm lucky i have some good mates to help in this when something goes wrong with the Disco, so far no major probs, broken exhaust stud which was repaired today.
Haven't really found anyone to rave about when i've needed a mechanic, installing things mostly, so i can't really help.
I will recommend a tyre place though, the cheapest and best service in
Sydney, run by a top bloke Brendon, and thats Don Cornells, Stoney Creek Rd, Bexley.
Baz.

Traction 4 , ARB at Artarmon - ask for Richard - he is in charge of the servicing . If you can find something he does not know the answer to , your doing
well .

I prefer to ask Norm. He's retired now and has more time to answer my dumb questions...when he's at
home. :))

Norm is to be a passage controller at this years Outback Challenge, Met him two years ago up there and to say he is a gentleman would be an understatement, true salt of the earth. He was doing the scrutineering then.

I concur that Diamond Jim is the world's greatest mechanic. He has been keeping my 80 series going strong for the past three years. He is based in
Bendigo and I am in
Melbourne.
Well worth the drive up and back.
As far as his love making skills go, I have no idea on that...lol
Cheers
Glenn

And now you can't afford to go anywhere, let alone risk the cost of having to repair it!

Thanks all, in my world a good mechanic is about as precious as water in a desert and when a good supply is not around I might as
well dry up.
Anyone can rip an engine apart and put it back together again, but diagnostics is like black magic...only a few understand it!
Hear hear, to all the quality mechanics in the world!!!

Well looks like I may die of thirst.
Do it all myself when I have a vehicle out of warranty because I haven't found a good one yet. Diagnosed all my own EFI problems in the past, the answers I got from some mechanics were plain laughable....maybe it is an NQ thing. Anyone in NQ know I good mechanic?

Let's see, a good mechanic would need to know what he (deliberately left out the politically correct she) is talking about, would not even attempt to give you BS, charge fairly for his professional work, even show you a trick or two while working on your pride and joy, always do what he is supposed to do and never short change you.
A pretty rare animal these days and quite possibly extinct.
Kind regards
