hi all, just to let you know of a good report ona Ford Dealer South of
Brisbane.Last June I/we bought a new Super cab F250, at the first 7,500k service when i picked it up after a couple of day's had it parked on building site on an angle & on driveway that i had to walk past it , not too unusual but i was able to notice that there was what apeared to be an oil leak. On inspection all was comfirmed, not a lot just enough. So rang dealer i thought who done the service may have done something wrong. To cut to the chase was booked in to determin the problem had truck for 7 day's problem solved,No so was booked in 2 weeks later they say we have to pull motor out to find the leak so being sceptical i went 2 day's later to check & to my horror motor was out ,talking to mechanic ,said he was preparing to pressure
test it.Ok wait another 8 day's truck still not ready that was on Friday 2 weeks ago but received phone call following Wednesday truck is ready u buet & i picked it up after work. apparently leaking from sump gasket & now resealed & so far there is no sign of oil under the truck.Forgot to mention all the time they had my truck i was loaned one of their 1 tonner's.Who was it you say QFord Springwood QLD.BOB

It is nice when the service lives up to the rhetoric. I've changed Ford dealers because the dealer I bought the truck from had bad after-sales service. Interestingly my 250 (7.3 litre diesel) goes in on Monday to have the sump resealed for a slow oil leak just below the oil filter.

Good luck on moday Val. One of the service dept.heads that i have been under said that instead of using say(repco) sump goo as they do not use gaskets as such any more just the goo, they used genuine Ford goo this time & aparently my oil leak was an out of the ordinary place to leak,Bob.

roofscooter, surely the sump should have been sealed from new with genuine Ford stuff? Or am I missing something?

It’s not really goo, it’s RTV sealant it’s a silicone gasket maker can be used on everything except for Head’s due to Fuel contact issues.
My diffs and sump are also sealed with it.
If you don’t apply it right or over tighten the bolt’s it’s easy for a leek to develop, Living it to set fully is also important, would say this is what happened at factory.
There is a Loc Tight Product, can’t remember the product number that is even better but bloody expensive, If you have surface that keep’s leaking you use this stuff and is almost garneted to seal it.

Not knowing what the sump is like on the Ford but I would have thought that a leak around the join of the sump to the motor would have been easy to pick and that the removal of the motor should not be necessary.
Seem a long time to R&R the sump even if they did give you a loan vehicle.

the oil was showing up under the gear box through the weep holes that they have for what ever reason. Aparently there was no oil anywhere to be seen when they pulled the motor out.Bob.

We had to have our F250 motor removed to fix a turbo manifold casting problem (not that they ever fixed it properly, get used to having your ute in at the dealer).
Also my Rodeo has to have the engine removed if the sump needs resealing. I say resealing because it is also goo as it does not have a gasket either.

I have had the same good experience with Hills Ford at Waitara, north of
Sydney. The 250 went in on Monday to have the sump resealed and I got it back at lunch time today (Thursday). I think it impressive that they lifted the engine out, resealed the sump and re-installed the engine in 3 & 1/2 days!! Their people skills are equally impressive. I'll be going back.

Val,good to hear you have also had a good response & out come with youre Ford Dealer.Seems that they leave the Nissan dealers in their wake lol. Keep looking for that leak!May be just coincadental but mine seems to more power in 1st & 2nd. But the economy seems a tad poorer.Good luck Val.Regards Bob.
