Went back to Deep Creek Conservation Park for two days last week.
Camped at the Tapannapa campsite and spent one afternoon walking from there into Boat Harbour Beach then along the Heysen Trail across to Tunkalilla Beach on which I had not set foot since 1964.
What a buzz! The weather was perfect with a SE sea breeze keeping the temp down and the scenery from the clifftops of the Southern Ocean hitting the coast was spectacular. There were more skippies in attendance than you could poke a stick at and they are so used to people that they hardly noticed us.
Quick swim at Boat Harbour before the climb back to the vehicle. Back to a comfortable bush camp for a beer and a rest while we watched the local birdlife in comfort.
Great place and about 2hrs drive from Adelaide.

The climb in and out of Boatharbour Beach is the only downside - I am still stiff and sore after three days rest at home. Have to be some disadvantages I suppose.

Good on you Roachie.
I'd suggest the StringyBark campsite for a group of you - more expensive but better facilities and larger sites suited to CTs and vans.
Give us a call on UHF as you go through town. You never know I might have the radio on.
I certainly plan to try and listen at 6pm each evening.

Where are you camping Bill?
I'll be staying at Port Elliott next weekend and might get a chance to call in and see you.

Also the Trig Point camping ground.

There is a great walk to the deep creek "delta", where the creek meets the sea.
Great fun can be had catching "undersized" fish during high tide.

It has changed somewhat since we used to take the kids when they were little.
No facilities back then.

A great spot all the same.

Is there easier access to Tunk Beach from the carpark now? Or does the bloke in the house below still try and prevent access to the beach?

As I understand it Davoe the gate leading to Tunkalilla Beach is kept locked. We didn't even try from that approach but walked along the coast.
