Mate we're glued to the BOM site, I have my father and totally bed ridden mother in Townsville. It's projected to cross above them and as much as I hate to wish it on someone else I hope that it stays that way. Dad's not getting any younger, and if something happened to him my mother is totally helpless!

Good luck to everyone up there, I'm sending as many good thoughts as I can!

Sandy

It's not looking too great, but cyclones usually wander around a bit before they cross the coast. Our thoughts are with all of the residents of FNQ.

A few years ago we had one off the coast here (it was lost). All the locals were excited ! You could tell they hadn't the foggiest about what a cyclone could actually do!

Crikeys youse banana bendas must have a different attitude to Cyclones over their. In the West they are essential to bring the flooding rains to the parched interior sections of Wa and fill up water holes and create new growth.

The mother-in-law lives in Townsville and has never experienced a cyclone before. I told her to top up on the necessities of life, food, water you know the things that you need to live on. Well, what does she do.......she goes out and buys a couple of bottles of Scotch. She reconds that if she gonna get stuck for a few days then she was 'bloody' well going to enjoy herself.

Gotta like that attitude.

Seriously, we wish all of you in the north a safe time over the next few days. Our thoughts will be with you.

Cheers, Patrick

Take care over there, Folks, but if you don't want Larry Layback, send him down to Winton. Could do with 100mm of rain over 3 or 4 days.

Current flood in Diamantina is almost a non-event, so could do with a boost. Been cloudy here for last couple of days, so anything is possible.

Hooroo...

packed the gear away, bought the bundy, and have a new found popularity with all the camping and 12v equipment.
Best of luck, you're about to have the ride of your life!

Wish us all luck. The hatches are battened as well as I could do.

This one snuck up on me, I was away all weekend and not tuned to the radio often. Came home at 5 pm and on the way heard about the cyclone. Unfortunately the glider has to be in the shed, so the 4wd's are out in the weather :-(

Lets all hope it hits the least populated part of the coast.

It's 8.30 here in Townsville now, little rain and a bit of wind starting to blow. All this new found technology is a bit scray, we can see the dam thing coming, last time with althea the BOM could see it but not us. Believe me once is enough for any one to have to go through. We have astronger house now but over time my gut has grown weaker. All the best to everyone now locked down and hoping. It takes bloody hours to get locked down and ready, lets hope no one meets in that highway in the sky.

Wish us luck Australia.

I cannot believe it will still be a cat 3 out at George town. I thought about heading that way to escape it, but glad i stayed at home. Good luck to my mates in Innisfail as i think they are going to cop the 280 k winds.

Lets just hope it weakens between now and tommorrow morning.
It's a big sucker so some one is going to cop it.
One can only hope it turns into a rain depression real quick and heads south to fill all the dams.

Good luck every one
