I have been trying to convince the woman that we need to go to Birdsville over easter. I think I'm winning that one. She said but all we do is driving.... dind't really know how to reply to that one. We have two extra days off so we have 6 days.
Brisbane to Birdsville must be about 1500km. 3000km in 6 days sounds ok to me.
I would love to go Imnaminka and than up to Birdsville but that might be pushing the friendship...or not???
Better get some Jägermeister before we go eh :-)
cheers

Promise her that she can stay in a motel on the way back to "freshen up". Talk about the wonderful people she'll meet there. The historic pub. A place everyone knows of but few get to go. Don't tell her about the corregations and dust or about your trip out to big red. Explain that she'll be seeing the country at its best. Lay it on thick....lie if you have to LOL :))

The motel thing wouldn't work at all, we are taking the Teardrop Camper with us but I told her about the quality time we be spending together and we can talk about all sorts of stuff plus I mentioned we can allways turn around and go home. I think we are going :-)

I took SWMBO a few years ago. We camped, and the country was bone dry. She worried about the poor animals. It was a great break.

My Missus took a little bit of convincing to go to Innamincka for Easter but it was really no problem. I think the clinching factors were the words 'oasis' and 'canoeing the oasis'.

From Whyalla it's also a decent drive for 4 days. But i can't see myself staying home or doing anything else.

should I take the kayaks?
We didn't do much at Christmas, much to hot up here but now is the time to go I think. If I stay home I be doing something I don't really want to do around the house or yard. Birdsville it is.

About the driving, tell her she will just have to sit there and do nothing for hour after hour, and occasionally look at the scenery.

Does she have a chance to do that at home? Does she dream of that at home somtimes?

That is the biggest problem to sit there and do nothing. I can't use that one at all.
