I would like to travel from Alice Springs down the Old Andado Track to Mt Date , Dalhousie Springs, Hamilton and on to Oodnatta in mid May.
Nissan GU 4.2TD towing a Jayco Dove Off Road camper.
Any info would be appreciated.

Barry

Hi Barry,
Check out my Trek Notes on the Old Andao Track here in EO.
Like all outback driving, drive to the road conditions, as it is not a race. It is a great track and there is some unreal scenery along the way. You should have no problems proving that it is not wet. We will be back that way this May also as part of our Simpson Geo Expedition.

Enjoy your trip, you will want to go back again.

Regards
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I read your Trek Notes, looks fine, my only concern is dunes with the Jaco Dove behind. I will keep a lookout for your Pajero.
Thanks for the info.

Barry,
If you stick to your intended route, there are no major dunes in that area for you to worry about. Trust me, you will have a great trip. Make sure you stop over at Old Andado. There is some very unreal scenery after Andado Station and on your way down to the SA Border. You will not believe that you are in the Centre of Australia.

Have a great trip and all the best

Regards

Stephen

Old Andado track should not present you any major problems. Keep your pressures lower than normal (like any other track).

There are usually patches of bulldust east of Allambie as you pass Rodonga Range - just take them easy.

Its a great drive - enjoy

Cheers
Phil

Barry we haven't travelled the Old Andado Track to Mt Dare, but May 2005 we towed our 2000kg 17ft Evernew van thru Oodnadatta, Hamilton Station, Dalhousie Springs, Mt Dare, to Finke and Lamberts Centre of Aust. without any problems. Take it easy and you shouldn't have any dramas. Some of our trip notes for that trip can be seen at groups.msn.com/CaravanningAustralia

Enjoy the trip...
