Due to several requests for updates to the hyperlink procedures the system now supports the ability to add a link directly. The link must start with either www or http:// - You do not need to worry about the < and > symbols unless you want to. The older method will still operate as before.
When you submit a link in this fashion the system will extract the link from the post and go and
test if the link is valid - if it is valid it will be made into a hyperlink automatically - if it is not valid the system will not change it.
So if I enter www.exploroz.com it will create a link to exploroz.com. If I enter www.exploroz.com it will also create a link (entered with the http:// in the front). I just typed these links in plain text. If the link is really long the system will subsitute the words Site Link to ensure that we do not cause horizontal scroll bars. So if the link is long like this one Site Link (I copied this link from the address line of my browser - should link to
Bell Gorge in
Places.
So to finalise I will use the old method which will allow me to change the text that is displayed on the link - ie the Site Link can be as youwant however the older hyperlink method must be used with he < and > symbols such as this
Bell Gorge.
I hope all this work this is the first live
test. Anyway enjoy.

The link finder needs a space at the beginning of the string. I would normally expect to have some text before a hyperlink - I needed some form of delimeter and used a preceeding space char so www.gqpatrol.com/ should work. I will add a
check for first character in the string and get back to you.
Spell
check is on the list and hasbeen looked at jSpell will most likley be the solution, I just need to buy the license and install.

Truckster, you should be able to download a free spell checker from the link (if it works) below. It will put an icon on your Internet Explorer tool bar. Just click the icon and it will spell
check your post before you press go.

Not for long I hope but the conversion code is a little difficult to maintian the old method and the new - they conflict with each other and try to change the already change links.

OK - Another rewrite complete the system should not care if you have a space at the front or not. So here goes:
www.exploroz.com
Now an image - this syntax has NOT YEt changed but will soon allow the
syntax that other sites seem to use..
Old Way
Hopefully it will now all work. Enjoy

Brian,
That link did not work as the URL is not valid - I tried it and got nothing hence the system will not convert it to a hyperlink.

Of course we always want more.....
David
What about the same thing in the Trader. I have some ads in there and have links prospective buyers can copy and paste to view the items. I've noticed it on msn sites like the caravaners
forum.
Just a thought. I think it should be std - I think pics or links to them always add to the success rate of 'solds', therefore it would attract more use. I don't think it would dilute revenue from display ads as they stand out more with the photos etc.

Ah all good things take time. I actually thought the
forum linking would be really quick to install - So I tried to slot in into todays jobs - took bloody ages and impacted on other jobs. Bugger - will be working late tonight. Anyway as to the trader - it is due for a complete update very soon and I expect to be including the provision for more images for each display ad and hyperlinks, free ads get what they get with no images or links, so this will all go to enhance the display ad option even more.
Anyway this re-write is some way off at the moment I have soooooo many other really cool things to do. I wanted to start a new member feature today however this will have to wait a few days now till I catch up again. Thanks again for the
feedback.
