Thanks Guys - is there any bush camping nearby or would it be best to put up camp in a commercial facility in Wentworth?

I don't know if there is any bush camping at the sandhills. Contact the Wentworth Tourist Centre for more info. I found them really friendly and helpful, in fact had trouble getting out of the place! There is a good caravan park at Wentworth right on the river, and the Wentworth Club serves good, cheap meals.

Pete,

What Stephen said about finding the sand hills is spot on. If you get to the roadhouse you have gone too far.

The caravan park in Wentworth is very nice, possums come down out of the trees at night to con the tourists for a feed so pack all your munchies away before you leave youre camp or go to bed.

You won't get a better feed than the club. Also take time for a tour on the little motor boat which ties up next to the club, very pleasant and informative.

Thanks Duncs - I was hoping to spend a few days along this stretch of the Murray (between Wentworth and Renmark) and do a bit of bush camping and fishing. Guess I'll give the Wentworth tourist people a call to confirme the availability or otherwise of bush camping. Will probably stay a night or two in Wentworth as well.

Cheers
