Hi, i'm new to the forum, i purchased a 06 D40 Navara 2.5TD auto at the start of the year, i would like to hear from any other D40 owners regarding diesel consumption, mine is towing a 7x5 tradesman trailer to work every day, i am averaging 14 to 15 liters per 100klm, or 470klm out of 70 litres, this is higher than i anticipated, two mates of mine drive the older 3.0 version and tow bigger trailers than me, they get 600klm out of a tank or 10.5 to 11litres per 100klm, mine only has 4k on the clock, it may loosen up a little, but i don't see the economy improving, i drive like miss daisy for this, if i'm heavy on the throttle it will get 435klm from a tank, any thoughts/feedback from other owners would be great.
Thanks
Nick.

Hi Nick

Try this site, its the pathfinder club. It has a few navara fellas also. This is a forum running on fuel economy at the momoent under technical.
Sounds like you need a long range tank c/o.

Good luck.

Nick,
Im in the process of buying the ST-X 2.5ltr diesel manual at the moment! The Nissan brochures say that the auto's average consumption is 9.5/100 where the manual is 9.0/100.
I cant explain why you consumption is so high, however their are guys on here that would be able to answer you question.
Im in Sydney Nick, I would be interested in knowing what sought of deal you got if your so inclined to give that information out. The best Ive been offered on a no trade in, cash purchase(ABN holder), with tubliner, towbar, snorkel and plastic is $44,900 drive away.

Regards,

Macca

Hi Macca, I paid $43.635 drive away, including torneau cover, tint, tubliner, bonnet/headlight protecters floor mats, weather shields and tow bar. (ABN holder)
I tried 6 dealers this was the best price, i got onto these cars via internet before they arrived in AUS, so i was able to get a good deal as we didn't know they would walk out of showrooms like they do, i think dealers have stopped discounts as they WILL sell them anyway, last i heard a mate in Melbpurne got quoted 50k for a manual, dealer refused to budge due to no stock in VIC.
I love the car and cannot fault anything but the economy at the moment.

Nick,
Yes you dead right about the current prices, "IF" they have one the showroom floor, they are as you say 50K with no haggling! Its the old ecomical law "when demand exceeds supply, name your price".
Im ordering mine on Monday week at this stage and I have been advised by the dealers that the earliest delivery date is 1 Aug 06, which doesnt bother me too much.
One thing that suprised me was I tested the market so to speak and sent out eight requests for quotations o various Sydney Nissan dealers, by fax. Each fax was exactly the same, however of the eight I sent out, I only got three responses by the requested date. I thought under the current climate, they would have jumped at the chance to give a quote?
Anyway as I said, to date the best offer is $44,900, however I still have a weeks haggling before I sign an order.
Finally, any dealers out there who want to give me a quote, feel free to make contact via this forum.

Macca

Well you know not to deal with the places that gave no response, that's what i did.
By the way, the dealer i went with was Ferntree Gully Nissan in VIC, great to deal with.

Macca,

It might be worth your while checking out one of the 'agents' that specialize in this area. Sorry, I don't have any contacts but I can remember someone on the forum doing this a while back. Saved a fair bit as far as I recall.

Hi Nick, glad to hear you like the vehicle but are disappointed with the economy (and justifiably so). We have a D40 manual diesel and achieve (without trying) 8.5 l/100km in an unladen state. VERY happy. Pity the dealers can't get the wheel alignment or the headlight alignment right.
Also I reckon the headlights to be quite poor, not adequate @ 100 on country roads.
I am very happy with the truck though, quiet and comfortable, remembering it is a truck!
Cheers, hope you sort the economy
PS Ours hardly improved with mileage, now have 5500km and economy unchanged.......still great1
