After the school holidays ourselves and friends, mum and dad and there friends maybe, friends and their friends are going to do a bit of a run through yerriong and Yalwal (do Yerriong hill climb - and go through to Yarramunmun Fire Trail)

If anyone is interested in joining....not sure if a date but prob not long after school holidays have finished on a sunday.....

its mainly for our friends and simon and jules's friends who have never taken their 4wd out before (one being a fairly newish Prado and we need to converte them into being real 4wders!!) so its not going to be a wild day where we see how many war wounds we can get in a day kinda thing.....

there will be 2 x 80's,pajero,2 x quite new prado's and not sure of the other 4b.....

prob leave mid morning and aim to have lunch out at Yalwal then go up Y'F'T.....

if interested please let me know so that i can let you know a date and all that soon......

One of the tracks we thought would be good to do which you can get to via Yerriong hill climb is where my photos were taken yesturday.....i think its called Sugarloaf Track according to the map but who knows....i dont trust these Yalwal and Burrier topo maps!!LOL!! I follow my nose!!!

If we did this track we would go in the opposite way we are in the photo - Nathan reckons it's be easier cos its up hill!! but i dunno!! It eventually leads upto the power lines at Deans Gap and then we could go down wombat flat and/or turn around and go down to Yalwal and Yarramunmun........

Glad that you wanna come....didnt think I'd get any replys!!!

do you have any ideas on what would be a good day trip....just looked at the map and thought....
Yerriong Hill Climb (Yerone Vale Rd)
joins up to Swordgrass Trail (we think) - did this yest and its good...lots of driving skill practise!
L at Deans Gap Rd.
R Mintbush - take this all the way to the top
R Braidwood road
R Yarramunmun
down into yalwal
come out and.
L Old Burrier Fire Trail
back to Nowra....

we are open to ideas and totally different tracks....will put a post on asking for update on Yarramunmun.....

I have invited 2 other families but not confirmed yet.

Is there a prefered UHF channel for coms for this trek while in the area?

Laura,

I am thinking of doing a day trip to the Yalwal area on Tuesday. I have been looking at the maps and comparing them to what you have listed as a prossible trek route for your trip on the 7th of may. What I am wondering about is whether Yerriong Vale Rd and Swordgrass Trail do actually link up. On the topo maps its doesn't indicate that they do, however a local may well know better than a map.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mick

we normally go from verrivone vale rd and follow it all the way through to deans gap, when we get to the power lines we turn left then link up to deans gap rd.....but the map makes no sence to us.......

we wanna do it again so that we know what we are doing and saying too!!!!

we are so lost looking at the make because it doesnt even show the power lines!!!!

Hi Laura

Been scouring the map and there isn't much left as 4wd with M'mun & monkey closed. But that won't deter me from get'n out o this city and meeting some of the EO folks.
Yep, camping Sat and go with the flow Sun, Sth Cst Forestry map, Tomerong sth plus Nowra local map.

Approx 40-50 K from camp to Tianjara F T, 12 mile Ck rd, Boyd l'kout, Messmate, Spotted Gum Trl, Wandean Rd, Jerrawangla l'kout. Not real challenging but maybe something there for the newies
White hilux tbl top with 80's rims.
See ya's @ camp.

Andy

There is always Mintbush/Wombat Flat off deans Gap and also Swordgrass that goes off Deans Gap - lead into Yerriong - not on the map though - its got a good hill climb - just steep...

did tianjara the other day - its directly opp y'munmun.its a good stretch of road we just followed 12 mile to the hwy.....

Cassia f't is good.....mate got is 2wd rodeo through - just -

have you got the tianjara topo???its one that we are missing.....

the newies are keen as to go ..... some how we gotta try and not back track - may be hard to avoid thoug maybe....

maybe somehow join up off cassia to wandean rd to join 12 mile rd...can do boyds lookout.....

i dunno.....plans are shot a little hey!!! locked gates - whats next!!!
