Nah,
when I posted the links it did say May 5th.
Must have just been updated afterwards.
I am just hoping it doesn't move too much more. my fuel budget for my Simpson trip in July is blowing out (even though I have built some room to move into it)

You're not wrong Bruce!
I started with a Queen Mary size buffer, but the way things are going, i'm down to a
Sydney Ferry - when they are actually running!

I feel for people in small towns where nobody can afford to visit anymore.
They rely on us travellers...

Yeah, its a shame for sure.
Maybe as an election sweetener next year, we might get a reduction in the excise??????

Then there are those like me.
Nearest town worth visiting is 300km away.
I can't afford to get out of town!!!
Not that I want to at the moment.................................................
Outback Challenge starts very soon. Looking forward to Sunday when the boys go out to play in the quarry.
Unfortunately I won't be able to follow them around this year. Pesky exams in June. Then again if I pass I will be able to afford the fuel for a run out of town.
Better get back to the books or I'll be stuck here for ever.

Dont worry about
Birdsville, these ongoing fuel hikes are going to rip the bejesus out of all towns heavily dependant on tourism.
Its not merely the cost of fuel when you get there, but the cost of commodities, supplies you may also need to purchase on your travels.
Dont get misled about the comparitive fuel cost in other countries, their bottom line economic situation is also different to ours.
We have over 80% of our fuel needs onshore, why use some peculiar offshore parity pricing to value it then add govt. excise which is then taxed again by gst?
I have to feel for the many thousands of
grey nomads now having to crowd into roadside stops until the next pension payment enabling them to fill the tank again.
A 50% increase in fuel cost over the last 18 months should cost someone (poly?) dearly.
