Sorry forgot to mention when we were there we camped next to a couple with an old toyota with home made van on the tray they started from south africa and had been travelling for 10 years when we met, they made funds by selling cosmetic jewellery and giving talks/displays about their homeland truly amazing...sorry to hear camping is closed there...Wonder if you can camp above the river on the pub side where the local aboriginals camp???or are they banned as well.

General store has gone bust. The pub is still there, although it almost got shut down for liquor license breaches

When did they close off camping at the Gregory?

I was up there in July last year, and the old camp, under the new bridge was like suburbia. We've got 2 blocks of land there, opposite the pub. You can camp there, if you wish....for a small fee LOL.

I know a lot of the old camps down the river are now closed, as the road has been fenced off, and access is limited.

Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.

Unfortunately, a minority spoilt it for the rest of us. The camp site got trashed by a few thoughtless people with rubbish all over the place. So, it is now off limits to everyone
