Always be careful of what you wish for. Overheard from a shop assistant around two years ago, "I just wish that there weren't so many bl&&dy tourists !"
Late start is going to cost many people up that way a lot of $$$

Hi Footie,

The silly ones are people like me, that have to have trailer repairs in Weipa. Man it cost me a motsa and I reckon he could have almost retired from what I paid. Carry my own welder these days so will be just a tourist next time! Don't missunderstand me here I'm only too happy to spend $ in these places but that was robbery.

Kind regards

Still cheaper than Weipa. It is inconvenient and anything not done by air up there takes for ever by road.

Hope it got there and back in one piece!

Kind regards

Thanks Sam! Appreciate the update. We will hopefully be up that way mid June - just waiting to hear about the roads on the top half of the cape before we make our final plans!

Thanks Sam,

At last some good news. A few of the more recent reports have been less than assuring.

Just in time, as I head off from Sydney in 36 hours !!

Now that it looks like we can get to Weipa at least, it's time to start pestering you for news on the road through to Bamaga. Any reports as yet??

Might see you in Weipa.

Regards

Thanks Eric.

There's been a bit of conflicting info recently. The ExploreOz road conditions currently shows Weipa to Bamaga as Open to 4WD, whereas another thread said it may not open until August !!

When do you head off on your first trip??

Might see you on the road.
