Anyone stayed in the caravan park in Hillston (NSW)? The RAC Tourist Park Guide indicates it's 1km north of the PO. Is it on the main road? I'd stay in Griffith, but I'd like to get further than that on the first day out from Melbourne. Thanks . Rob.

David, I'm embarrassed to admit that I have the 2002/3 edition of the Guide - it does have facilities info but no GPS details. Should I assume from your question that later editions have these details? The Park is on the corner of Oxley Ave & High St. Thanks. Rob.

Don't be embarrassed - I was asking more from a point of view of adding the place to the places system - We are building a database of all caravan parks and othr places in Australia with write up, photos, gps positions etc. We do accept places data without GPS info so many you would be ab le to add it to the Caravan Park places system when you get a chance.

We usually stay at a roadside stop about 30km out of Hillston on the Lachlan River. Nice spot and room for campers/caravans.

Thanks Peter, any facilities there, and how far off the road is it? We have a side flip soft floor trailer, so a level grassed area is preferred. Rob.

Sorry no facilities but the area is flat and water in the river. OK for one night.

Hello Robbg,

I've stayed at the Hillston Caravan Park. It's clean, amenities good, grass sites and friendly owners. Coming from Griffith you go through the main street and head out towards Cobar. The road comes to an intersection..the Cobar road goes off to the right and the road to the caravan park goes to the left...it's sort of a v intersection. I'd have no hesitation in staying there again.

I am with vivene here the park in Hillston is clean and comfortable without being flash.

Where are you heading? There are a number of nice places on the roads out of Hillston, you may be able to get even further, if you are prepared to "bush" it for the night.

if you're heading towards Broken Hill, you could stop at the Willandra Station . Interesting spot.

note that the camping area isn't flash, but has flushing toilets.
