Hi everyone,

I'm aware of the seasonal track closures in the vic High country. But I am just wondering if anyone knows of an up to date site which lists any tracks which may close earlier?

I'm heading up for the long weekend..............along with the rest of victoria.........

some tracks are already closed, can remember seeing May dates on a few signs, the Davies Plain track was one of the fist to be closed from memory.
do a search on the vic NP site it should tell you.

Yes I was travelling with a 79 series with a trayon and a beige 60 series, we came up through Limestone crk on to the Davies Plain and then through to Tom Groggin.

You pulled into Davies Plain Hut, saw the size of the group we had there and buggered off before I got a look at your rig.

I was just wandering over to say g'day to you and you did a u-ey and bolted. I didn't think I was that scarey.

Did you have a good trip? We went the opposite way - Tom Groggin to Omeo.

We had spent the last 10 days by ourselves, had hardly seen anyone else for days, too many people at the hut so we decided to keep going, ended up at buckwong crk for the night as we had to be back in sydney the night after.
Had a slight problem the next morning as the bush rats had a good feed under the bonnets overnight, didn't like the Humvee much but the 6 week old 79 series needed a bit of repair work before we got going again, it will bear some of the scars to the grave ;-))

Nope. Long project that one.

Hasn't moved much and won't now until winter. I thing the Bluff track past Lovick's has already closed for the year.

It is usually wise to ring the rangers at the appropriate office (Heyfield, Omeo, Bright, etc) before you go. Allow a bit of time for them to ring you back because they might not be in the office for days at a time. You really need to speak to the field staff: the office staff usually have no idea, and the Parks Vic info line is worse than useless.

There is often a long delay before info is posted on the Parks Vic web site. For example a track might be blocked by a rockfall, or construction works, or whatever, for weeks or months before anyone in Parks Vic/DSE head office is notified.
