Looking for info on the condition of the Kennedy Developemental Road between The Lyne
Junction and
Hughenden, then
Hughenden to
Winton. Is it suitable to tow a caravan? Travelling July/August '06. Want to go to
Longreach from
Cairns. Appreciate any comments and/or advice.

Last time I was on that road would have been about 18 months ago , was rough and corrugated in
places , was some road works but that would be finished , maybe ore started , who knows ...it could be graded , should be no problems if you take it easy , some good tourist spots along the way .

Lubo,
We went that way in 1996 so a long while ago... but back then it was dirt and quite rough in spots. Quite a nice drive though and Porcupine
Gorge just out of Hughendon is pretty spectacular.

We went along it in 98 with a Falcon wagon and camper trailer heavily loaded without any dramas....just beware of the dips ..they can be hard to see..

two-lane width dirt - a bit rough but if you take it easy should be ok. Ring somebody in Hughie for the latest. Maybe a bit of stock wandering around - again take it easy. Bitumen S of Hughie.
