Jimbo
Have a look at post 34862.
I haven't responded to fridge questions for ages.
I made the mistake of trying to offer some objective advice based on experience and scientific results. I don't have a brand preference or loyalty. I don't really care as long as it keeps stuff cold.
Consider this.....Have you ever been in a Pub, or at a BBQ where there was a vigorous debate around the household fridge. When did you last have your mate tell you that you were a fool for buying an LG because a Fisher and Paykel is far superior. Then some other dill chimes in and tells you that you are both clowns because a Kelvinator is without doubt the best fridge on the market. Then some drunken fool chips in, loudly, and tells you he has owned a Westinghouse for 20 years and he would never buy anything else.
It doesn't happen, because it isn't a life changing decision.
Fair Dinkhum, there are more important things in life.
Jim.

Totally agree. Same goes for Nissans and Toyotas. If it suits you then so be it. Tyres, the same. What I run might give some a laugh but I find em ok for what I want. Different needs, different wallets.
We all 4wd to suit our interests, capabilities and financial
reserves.
But in the end what does it matter ?
If you throw a tent or swag down then great.
If your $70K 4by pulls a $50K kitchen behind it then that's fine too.
If answering a fridge post I'd simply say that I own a Waeco and have found it fine. I'm sure that other brands are as good, maybe some are better.
So what ?

I'll not deny the noxious flatulence (I think everything does that dunnit? Does for me anyway) as for the appreciation of good beer.....that gassy fart inducing stuff that you pay $35+ for, I suppose I'd drink it if I had no choice.
Home brew has come a long way from the bad ole days. The difference is comparable to a
supermarket packaged "meal" against a
home made casserole/pie etc....and, it actually produces farts every bit as good as the commercial stuff. Healthy stuff.

Hey Jim,
Sorry I may Have wasted your time however there are many folk who seem to have offered some informative advice, if it does not interest you , switch off and stop bitching. Basically, everyone is entitled to their own objective opionon and lets face it, any connstructive criticism without advice is just plain critism and should be ignored.
Never stop offering advice if you think it may help

price,
performance,
reliability,
functionality,
availability,
whether the Waeco serviceman lives around the corner:-)
Ooops!, sorry for that last unsolicited comment.

You, you just wait till all us Troopy owners are in the city together we'll cause a ruckus!!

Its kind of funny, not! I've had the same dilema lately, what
fridge to get. I've been offline for 9 days & read the 34862 discussions with a bit of toungue in cheek smirking, then went to the handful of retailers around KNX who sell fridges - I'd looked on the east coast during the last week but no bargains to be had that would warrant the freight, so today was crunch time to buy a
fridge for the upcoming
Kalumburu trip.
Had a choice of basically a 40l engel, 50 litre downunder, and 60 litre
waeco. the engle was a bit small for the money, the downunder looked pretty good but was a bit no frills (possibly a good thing!), and the 60 l
waeco was a bit tall (hard to get stuff from the bottom. I had post 34862 in my own head!.....lots of measuring etc, then said stuffit and bought the
waeco......80 litre. well it wasn't too tall, it is big, it has a few modern features.....and best of all, it stopped me from looking for a bloody
fridge for my
camping trips, its finally over....for now.
Cheers Andrew

mmmm....not sure too late for me if they do. Engels are at retravision and bushcamp, downunder at Repco,
waeco at miter 10, and Darryl at ARB will get you in an engel with an ARB sticker on it for the same price as the engels in town if you like the ARB name.

Jimbo old son , all things being equal ,it matters not what we dribble on about or discuss at the pub /bbq or how passionate a discourse becomes on the electronic
forum , as long as it does no harm we have the collective right to call a
Waeco a spade and an Engle a shovel ,,,who realy cares ???? No one as long as the beer is cold.
