Non 4WD, my Civic has just clicked over 40,000km and is due for a service. I nearly died when I was told by the dealer that the 40k service is over $600 as opposed to the reasonable prices they have charged for previous services. It seems a lot of things get replaced, checked etc that don't normally. My question is, can anybody recommend a good mechanic around Dandenong thru Mornington Peninsula that can do a log book service for me without affecting warranty?
Thanks
Jodi

hi iv'e got a 99 honda crv and went for the 120,000 service and every where i went they all said that all the log book services are between $500.00 and $600.00 ,whats worse is i paid $1000,00 for extra warrenty and they said after the fact that no service no warrenty, after they had said that the services were gonna be $170,00 thats from jt fosseys in tamworth .so i think your in for $600.00 service unfortunatly.

Spray the windscreen with antifog spray $25
Spray with discs with anti squeal spray $20
Clean with aircon with some foam $45
Injection clean $35
Crap crap crap additives cost a fortune so I always say no additives now.

I think I will bite the bullet. I just hate paying so much more because of a brand name when somebody local could do a job just as good and I get to support local industry or sml business owners.
Having made my comment about brand name, I guess I could have purchased a ford or holden right from the start. My honda though has given me no grief and I love it, it's just the service price that is a bit annaoying.

I remember when I had a Honda and at the service new windscreen wipers were about $40 and this was around ten years ago. You could not put just off the shelf $2 inserts in them. Loved my Honda but hated the cost of service. I now have a Landcruiser so $600 sounds a bargain for a service.
