Round my area (NE Vic/Border) petrol is now 146 c/l , diesel 147 c/l in Albury (BP), and diesel in Wang is 143 c/l (Caltex). and petrol 147 c/l (Shell)
What happened to the 12-15 c/l difference of a few months ago and all the arguments put forward by the petrol companies about demmand?
Makes a mockery of those who carefully worked out it was cheaper to run a petrol 4WD than a diesel. Get those calculators out again boys!!!!

I would love to know why Diesel is about 30 cents cheaper in Germany and the rest of Europe but not here in OZ.
Diesel has been cheaper over there for the last 40 years or more.

Pre GST diesel was cheaper here in Sydney than any petrol. I was paying around 10c / ltr less for diesel 7 years ago and that was when petrol was less than 80c/ltr. Some one back then tried to tell me that any subsidies on diesel, pre GST, were removed at that time. I dont belive that.

I cannot figure it out because we all know that diesel is far cheaper to produce than petrol????

Hi Andrew,

Diesel in Perth still dearer than petrol, however avg offset doesn't appear to have changed much as prices for both go up, meaning that % diff is reducing in diesel favour.

Waddo,
About a week ago in Brisbane I fiiled up with diesel for $1.30 per litre and noted that unleaded was $1.35 at the same garage. I have seen this occasionally but it is certainly not the norm. I have heard that in Europe the government there subsidises diesel, which also have around 40% of their cars using diesel. Needless to say that the Australian Governement does not do the same for us.
