Evening all,
We will be needing a new set of tyres soon, so I went to a tyrepower dealer and asked for a set of 255/70 R16 ATR's and the price I was given was $272 ea. Is this an ok price or not. I was going to go for Pirelli Scorpion's, but due to the comments on this
forum this won't be happening. I am happy to pay the extra dollars for piece of mind and safety.
Thanks Greg

Greg you might find that size is a little dearer as not as common as say 265/75 16 or 245/70 16. I noticed that that size will be legal to. Have this site for checking tyre sizes www.1010tires.com and yes its tires.
Cheers Bruce

I checked out the Mickey Thompson range of rubber at the 4WD show at
Sydney on Saturday. I was impressed with the designs and constuction. The ATZ looks what an AT tyre should look like..and the next one up - the FCll, is similar, but better in design to the Cooper STT (Ithink thats the model). Prices seemed very reasonable too!!

We actually had the Cooper STT and the FCll side by side (and the Cooper rep. wasn't happy). On the FCll the sidewalls 'seemed' meatier, the sipes were of a better design and I think would be more effective, the blocks would tend to clear mud and rocks more effectively with a better cut angle. The shoulders design was probably the most obvious difference. My opinions only.
I realize the Coopers and the BFG possibly have more street cred. as far as brand names go- but might I be so bold to suggest that the Mickey Thompson (although they may be the Dick Cepek brand) might be worth a look at!! And, of course, the famous Cooper warranty is worth a close look at too.

Mickeys, Dick Cepek and Cooper all come out of the same factory. Tried to get Mickey MTZ in 285/75/16, was a 6 week wait. Bought Cooper STTs, am happy with them
