Went to the recent 4WD show in
Sydney last week and saw amongst other things a portable Warn Electric winch. It was an 8000lb single line pull, mounted in a frame with 2 carrying handles on the top and a Hayman Reese coupling on the back. Never seen them before.
Looked like a good idea in principle at first because you could slot it in on the front or back, or move it between vehicles without a fuss.
The I started to think about where I would carry it when not in use, the strain on back putting it on and off, how to have the necessary electric connections - they come with standard ring terminals. I suppose a 500A Anderson plug would work.
Anyone got one or seen them in action?
Think I will stick with my slow but unbustable Thomas which has been in 3 of my 4WDs so far.
