Oh NOOO... not another wheel/tyre question... but I would really like too see if someone might have an answer for my problem.
I own a LC 100 TD IFS (2006 model) and this seems to be the problem. I wanted to replace my factory alloys and buy a set of Cooper Tyres on STEEL rims. I rang around several tyre
places and all of them said that there are no steel rims available for my car and apparently the combination of the following is the problem in terms of the offset of the wheels.
Independent Front
Suspension,
Turbo Diesel,
5 Studs
They said if it would have been a V8 they could help me out, but I assume they use 6 Studs.
Is there any way I can get Steel Rims 16x8 for my verhicle??? I find it really hard to believe that there is no soultion for my problem.
Thanks to all of you who took some of their time to read another Wheel/Tyre-Question.
Dirk

Hi Dirk,
I had a similar problem getting steel rims for my 4X4 - though the problem was with off-set rather than stud pattern.
I wound up going to a mob in
Brisbane called Race Engineering.
They used standard ROH components and welded up the centre to my specification.
If ROH make a 5-stud centre to fit your vehicle, then they could probably do the job ... mind you, if ROH already make a 5-stud pattern to suit your LC, then they probably already have a factory wheel. (Alternatively, Race Engineering might be able to get 'blanks' and drill them to your specs.)
Do a google search for ROH wheels and you'll turn up their site. They have a PDF fitment chart you can view to see the sizes available.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Benn

I think my 2001 LC 100 TD IFS will have the same as your 2006 - I had alloys when I purchased it and have kept them with the original rubber. I purchased a set of steels from the dealer who I got the car from. Apparently a lot of people put after market alloys on & the dealers sometimes sell the OE steels cheap (about $250 for 5) Thats what I did and put Coopers on the steels.
Anyway I recently damaged one of the steels (dont ask me how) and I have been looking around for one. No big hurry, but they are available for around $50 to $65 - Toyota also sell them but want to charge half the price of a whole new car. As suggested try ebay or one of the local sunday trader papers. In
Perth Quokka is a good place to start. The other option is to let your tyre man know what you want. Next time he swaps a set of steels for alloys he can do a deal.

At the time they asked me how many steels I wanted so I took 6. :-)

I dont know...in May when I was sorting out delivery time and tyres I wanted ie BFG's AT's Toyota said no go..BFG dont make 17ins...i said take the efin mags off and fit 16 steels with the BFG's...they said no go..the steels wont fit! cant see why myself but they say no.

Member 1, Thanks, I was not aware of that. I notice the specs on my year 2001 for GXL and GXV the rims are 8JJx16 for both steel and alloy and on the specs for 2006 the Standard Diesel is the same at 8JJx16 while the TD is 8Jx17. From this you could expect them to be interchangable.

best advice, ring the local dealers and c if they have a set of 16X8 ifs steel wheels,
before the cruiser went to 17inch alloy wheels they had standard 16x8 steel rims (except for sahara), a lot of the dealers have rims lying around from when the customer requested accessory alloy wheels, the dealers will have them.
(all 100 series cruisers have 5 stud pattern)
