Yes I am a rig perve , I admit it - I have finally come out of the closet and admitted it .
I love checking out other peoples rigs when I am away
camping . There are so many different ways of doing the same job - some brilliant and some just whacky - but all enjoyable to check out . And so many wonderful gadgets , some hand made , which is even better .
When I met Wayne from Great Divide doing his tagalong thingie at the Calvert Ranges earlier this month , he gave me a guided tour of his 4WD . He just about camps for half the year , so it was fascinating to see the way he organised his car and what gadgets he used to make life easier under the stars .
Camper trailers are just as interesting - so many designs , so many tradeoffs , so many gadgets - they are just heaven for a rig perve like me .
We should have an ExplorOz meet in
Sydney , so I can satisfy my rig lust .
Have a nice weekend ,
Willie .

Nudie, I wonder what you are actually perving on with your comment. ahahahh
Was it the
suspension you particularly liked, the flash of the lights and the smile above the bash plates? It just may have been the click at heel and a slight spin at wheel;-)

I'm with Nudie, couldn't care much about other vehicles, a quick glance is enough though I've been known to look twice at a nice rack & pinion.

Like to check that out too, but rack and pinion is short term value if the chassis isn't in good order guys ;-)

Willie,
Great fun, but I avoid it where I can. It is just too expensive.
"But honey, you should see what these people have got. We've just gotta have one as well"
Listening to people talking about their rig is just as much fun. I remember chatting to a guy with a very
well set up Pajero last year at a
campsite. It was a nice vehicle but he was the sort of guy that just HAS to impress you with what his truck can do. He went on for a fair bit and kept referring to how the Paj could go
places that his mates in Landcruisers could not (and judging by the underbody/panel damage to a relatively new vehicle, I didn't doubt it).
He was quite intense and I commented that his truck looked great and that I was pleased he recognised that the Cruiser was indeed the benchmark by which he should judge his own vehicle. He didn't quite know how to take that, but realised I was pulling his leg and we ended up having quite a long chat over a cuppa.
People, 4WDs and
camping setups, endlessly fascinating I agree.
Matt.

Like most things, even perving costs nowadays. Even if it only costs your ego it still costs. Sorry, I digressed, we were on about cars were'nt we hahahaha.
Actually I love looking and talking 4b setups.
Trevor.

I too love it, especially at the shopping centres, you start to take notice of who might live near you with a full car set up happening, and perving for the illusive EO sticker somewhere on a vehicle.
Cheers
Jo

I actually like perving on people who have no idea what they are doing & offering helpful suggestions.
Caravanners with matching rigs, traveling in pairs, just out of the show room are the best & most humourous to watch and offer assistance to.
I recall last year at
Cairns at
Crystal Cascades, A likeley pair arrive on 2 sites behind me. a 4some with 2 male know alls, Roy & his mate Bozo.... Ok so the problem soon emerged that Bozo's
water hose was 2 metres too short, I offered to lend them one of my spares untill they fronted Bunnings & bought another. Oh no says Bozo, I'm just gunna cut some of Roy's hose and get some connectors and make up a short one. I asked where they were going and the answer was basically across the top end to
Darwin then home via Alice & Bron
hill.
Time Passes.............
We meet up with Bozo & his wife at
Normanton. Roy had gone home because he got the excrements with it all somewhere as his hose was not long enough & Bozo had "stolen the extension"......
Other things I like to perve at are: nude german tourists ( FEMALE) in the pools at
Mataranka as some smooth Aussie told them it was a clothes optional affair, other peoples gadgets and tools, other peoples pictures, Breadmakers I love swapping bread recieps....

Funny you should mention this subject today, I was just doing that on my way home today.
Was slowing to turn into my driveway when the
young lads new girlfriend across the road got out of her car and was walking towards their
gate, was so busy perving on her "rig" that I drove straight passed my driveway! Pretty embarrassing having to back up whilst ducking behind the steering wheel. Oops.

Yeah Willie,
I do like perving on other peoples rigs, you get so many ideas as to how you can improve your own setup and then of course there are the absolute wankers who manage to make you make you feel all smug and superior. I do have a problem with my other half, she pervs all the time and if she sees something good she wants it. Her latest want is the 21ft. Bushtracker Caravan we saw near Port Macquarie. I've told her she can have one or the other but not both. The Bushtracker and leave it sit on the front lawn forever or the F350 we would need to tow the mongrel. She can't make up her mind so I suggested she take the F350 as you could through a fly sheet over the tray and
camp in the sucker. She's not woken up yet that she'd still be on the front lawn, I couldn't afford to put petrol in an F350.
