Hi All, I am planning a trip from
Brisbane to
Adelaide via The
Birdsville Track and Flinders Rangers in mid August. We will be to towing an Off Road C/T with a 100 series Landcruiser. Can anyone offer any tips or suggestions for the trip. Also would appreciate any advice for the
Birdsville Track. Thanks.

Take it easy, take plenty of
water and fuel. You could do it in a Falcon but it will be better in the Cruiser. Be prepared to be stuck if it rains as the roads quickly become impassable and you will have to sit it out till it dries out - just make sure you always have more than a week's supply of essentials.
Birdsville track is fine when dry - easy to take a car on it.

Hi Rod M
Make sure you drop your tyre pressure for the
Birdsville Track. Take your time.
Well worth a night at Mungerannie, or Clayton
Bore.

Yes, I agree with both comments above.
If dry, the
Birdsville Track is an easy drive.
Plan it as a two day trip, with a stopover at Mungerannie.
If the weather changes, you will get maybe one or two days notice to be somewhere else, or be forced to stay for an indeterminate period.
Seek advice on current conditions at
Birdsville from Ruth at the Caravan
Park and Johnno at the Mungerannie Hotel/
Camping area.
One relevant piece of advice I will offer. Use a rear window protector.
Either the more permanent clear plastic material, or even a flattened out beer carton. Doesn't matter if you have a stone guard on the trailer. That only provides some protection to the camper. A protector will be cheap insurance.
