Gday all
Just completed a fantastic 5 week trip through the red centre with my wife and 2 year old son, in an 02 Nissan Pathfinder and proud to say with no mechanical faults.
Sydney,
Bourke, Tiboburra, Camerons cnr, Innaminka,
Birdsville, Simpson Frech line, Mt Dare, Ayres Rock, Meerenie loop, Alice,
Coober pedy,
Oodnadatta track, Lake eyre, The Flinders, Sky Trek,
Broken Hill and home.
What a great country we have!!!
We crossed the French line in 3 days 117 litres of fuel used and 40 litres of
water.
The Pathy (my wifes car) who many people have told me is a soft roader, responded to everything we threw at it, with ease.
Straight over Big Red first attempt and even had the pleasure of snatching big brother Patrol off the crest of a dune.
This
forum has been great for our preperations on our small adventure, so Thanks to all those who had some imput, and the portable 100amp hr sidewinder dual battery from Derek has worked fantastic, highly recomended.
I put a few of our picks on a website, hope you enjoy
Cheers

Hi,
Pleased to hear the trip went
well and you had a good time.
IMO that model Pathfinder gets underestimated quite a bit and it is quite a lot more capable than people think.
Have a good one.

Glad to hear you had a good trip in the Pathy. I have an '03 model and they are very underestimated and a very capable fourby. The people who told you it's a soft roader are idiots. If you don't already know try www.pcoa.org.au You can get a lot od advice and info on Pathy's and I'm sure all the forumites there would be very interested in your trip.

Great! Glad you did what so many others just dream of..Re the capable rig, that is good news and most of us would realise, the success of your mission is also due,in no small part to your attitude in seeking out information prior to embarking and the way in which you implemented that which you deemed to be appropiate for the adventure to be.Lastly, you either were, before you started,an experienced pracical offroaad driver, group manager or,you adapted quickly to the changed enviorement found out along the track..The "I know it all" types,so often evedent in the offroad world are too often the ones doing our interests (and nature) a dis-service..(plus being rescued)Your wife will never see the rig in the same light now when she sees it in the sealed K-Mart (or other) car-
park.No doubt, she is justifiably proud of her "shopping trolley" and the fact it has been proven in the remote, rugged Australian outback. Thanks for the pix..Have fun..RockyOne!MPG:6!
