Hi All
I am looking at getting dual batteries for a 03 patrol. I have been quoted roughly $800 by a 4wd store this includes fridge socket wired into back of car but no battery. Does this sound about right? Would i be better off going to a Auto Electrician. Only want a basic set up that isolates once engine turned off??
All help apreciated

Sounds expensive. especially with no battery.
I did my own and bought all the bits including battery and battery box from ARB. Cost about $400.00. Took about two hours max.

Tray $100ish 5 screws to fit usually
Battery $120 usually 2 clamps and 2 terminals.
Solinoid $100-700 depends on the type, but could be worth paying to fit.
Extra fuse panel $30 2 screws to fit.
Run the wires to the back of car after removing trim, and other bits (plenty of labour for them, or a nice day to take advantage and clean the carpet while yoru at it and run wire yourself)....
drill hole in back for fridge plug,
solder 2 bits of wire to fridge plug and 2 to the fuse panel...
which state are you in, and what specs on items were you given?
EG What battery, what solinoid, what tray..
give more info on what your having fitted will tell if your being reamed.

Corny,
I have to agree with all that $800 sounds a bit over the top especially with no battery supplied. I installed a power outlet in the back of my GU a couple of weeks ago for about $120.!MPG:8!
It took about 2 hours to run the new 6mm cable from my second battery through the car to the back. I got all the know how and help from these pages.
Do the research and get more quotes!
Good luck.
Chris
