Ok troops! Which is the BEST gas stove for the CT. I've looked at the Coleman, Primus and a few of the cheaper brands but cannot make up my mind. Leaning towards the Coleman - what u all think?

Grrr!!!

Low pressure gas rings are the go. No tiny gas jets to get clogged by fine dust.

I'll second that hoyks . When I bought my Trak Shak they wanted to put one of those useless flashy camping stoves in and I said "no way". They take an hour to boil a teaspoon of water and they clog up .

The best stoves are the crappy Chinese cast jobbies with two burners . You can boil a billy in half the time .

Just remove the legs and build them in .

I built a really neat folding three sided windbreak around mine - It took me a weak and a million rivets - I am a clutz with such things , so I was very proud of this effort !

Cheers ,

Willie .

I still have the little fold-up Jackeroo (primus rip-off) stove and every time I get it out I tell myself I should get rid of it and make up the ring burner cooker.

I will get around to it one day.

I'm a sheet metal worker and have a shed full of half finished projects.

Thanks fella's,

Looks like the trusty Chinese job will do the job - as you said Willie I will build the wind break around and go that way unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Have you looked at the Coleman Shellite stoves? I got two and a light. No gas bottle and boils the billy quicker than anything else. Cheaper to run as well.
I got a two burner and a single burner.

G'day there doggie!

My advice is to go with your original choice....the Coleman.

The Coleman has NO jets to clog up and this can easily happen due to a little bit of dust entering the stove.
Both burners on the gas dual burner stove can be controlled from full burner to a low simmer flame.

I can't comment on the dual burner model as I haven't owned one, but unless transporting a gas bottle is a problem, gas is the way to go and the Coleman dual burner is the best choice IMO for trouble free, easy operation.

I agree, the coleman stoves are excellent! Can turn one burner off without it affecting the other burner. Adjust them down to a simmer real easy. After using the normal high pressure stove for years and now having a low pressure stove, there is no way I would go back. The cast iron rings may be good but the weight would turn me off using them.

Another vote for the Coleman.

I specifically bought mine to use in the CT because they dont flare like high pressure stoves do.

Not a good thing in a Canvas CT.
