The cheapest way to do it is with a small in line pump.

They are available from CAMEC, they are in Brisbane. The most expensive is the full on pressure systems they put in Caravans. Not sure on the prices though.

I did it on my camper years back and just used a standard tap on a bracket and a small in line 12V pump.

Good luck

Hi, Just fitted a 12 volt pump to camper trailer, got the pump and outlet with switch built in for $30.00 from chandlery shop, mounted the pump beside the tank so is always primed and ran the hose up to the spout mounted on a bracket at the kitchen, flick the switch and the water comes, magic stuff.

Cheers Rossco.

I did something similar to Notso but then added a non return valve after the pump & this helped a continuous flow if water.

Hi there hotdfa, I have fitted a few diaphragm pumps, just fitted a Johnson Aqua Jet to our Trayon. Its a beautie.. Another good brand is a Flow Jet. They come with a pressure switch and suction and discharge fittings, you'll get around 12-13 ltrs/min. With a cut out pressure of about 40psi. They are self primming, and can run dry without a problem. Make sure you use good fittings and hose. They start from around $160. I purchased mine from QLD House of Hose. You can also get them from any Co-op or farming supplier.

Hope that helps.
Happy drinking

We put a 12v inline pump at the outlet of the water tank and a switch at the tap of the camper trailer. Flick the switch and the water comes through. The approx cost for switch and pump was $100.

Handpumps are smart........don't flatten your battery and you use only the water you need. Why would you want to get rid of your handpump?

you can prevent water wastage somewhat by not installing an ON?OFF switch. Install a momentary pushbutton instead and then the water runs only as long as its pressed. I have one of them in my trailersailer and it works great. The convenience of an electric pump with the frugality of a hand pump.

Sorry ...what I called our switch is really the momentary push button...water only comes out when it's pushed...sorry my brainstrust who is dictating this didn't word it properly. ..or me, being the mechanical genius that I am didn't explain it right. It works really well.

Hi,

I installed a Whale GP99 inline pump on our camper and it works a treat.!MPG:9!

You can buy them for around $50.00 from places like boating supply stores etc.

Easy to install.

Hope this helps.

We used this model when we fitted a water tank to the troopy. You do need to make sure that this pump is below the water tank as it is not self priming. If you have the pump above the water tank it will not work when the water reaches the level of the pump.

If you fit a pressure system and good tap you will have no water wastage, it will be just like your kitchen sink at home.

I use a 12volt Flojet to supply water to the bathroom, toilet and kitchen of my training centre, amazingly powerful little pump, very reliable and very quiet.

Put a check valve on the pressure side of the pump, to prevent water backing up through the pump, and you will have instant, pressurised water as soon as you turn the tap on.

The model i use was around the ~$200 mark.

Hi Hotdfa,
I had a whale inline pump installed in my jayco when new (12 months ago). We have just come back from a week on Fraser Island (back today), where the pump packed it in on the first night. With the Whale pump bleeding air, the hand pump which was inline, would not stay primed. Lacking spare tubing etc, we were unable to bypass the problem and had to resort to jerry cans for water. All because I did not have a few little bits of plastic in my spares kit.

I don't have a problem with the pump failing, but I'll definitely have the spare parts to bypass this potential problem for future trips. The pump was excellent while it worked.

Apart from water it was the best week I've had this year. Yar gotta love that island.

Cheers, JJ
