The Headlights on my dads Jackaroo are very dim and yellow looking both on high and low beams. I checked the globes and they seem to be the standard 60/55watt. Can these be upgraded to a higher wattage without melting the lenes? Or are you better off just fitting some Narva plus 50s?

Cheers!

Narva Plus 50's gave my Jack a reasonable improvement without spending heaps of cash, or effort.

My understanding is, higher wattage globes will eventually distort the reflector surrounding the globe(s).

Have you checked your wiring? Yellow lights are often the result of bad switches or joints (joiners, plugs & sockets) in the wiring. If the voltage at the globes is more than 1V less than the battery go back through the wiring loom and find where the excessive loss is.

See also thread 35655 for discussions on this subject on an other type vehicle.

You need to be a bat to see where you are going at night in a Jack. God only knows why some 4WD manufacturers neglect that aspect of the vehicle. The yellow is normal if you keep to standard lights.
