While reading news updates, there was an artical about a SA family on holiday at
Cable Beach,
Broome. A 3 yr old girl was crushed by a 200kg
gate, apparently her brother was opening the
gate, she went to help, her father got out to stop her and the 4wd rolled into the
gate knocking it of its hinges & falling on her. She was air lifted to
Perth with serioud injuries. A terrible accident, I hope all is
well and that its not someone we know from this site.

Toddler crushed under resort
gate
A three-year-old girl has been airlifted to
Perth after being crushed under a 200kg
gate at the renowned
Cable Beach Resort in the West Australian town of
Broome.
The girl suffered serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis, about 4.30pm yesterday after her father, a tourist from South Australia, stopped at the resort's
gate in a four-wheel drive, WA police said.
His son climbed out to open the
gate, followed by the boy's three-year-old sister, a police spokeswoman said.
The man got out of the
gate to get his daughter out of the way.
"However the car rolled, crashed into the
gate, knocked it off its rails and onto his daughter," the spokeswoman said.
It took several people to lift the 200kg
gate off the injured child.
She was taken to hospital in
Broome with serious injuries before being airlifted to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in
Perth

Sounds like a handbrake malfunction. He wouldn't have got out without engaging the brake.

Not a good thing, mind you anything with a child involved in such things are never good.
Hope all does work out and a full recovery is the result............ for all persons concerned.
