G'day All
I have recently purchased a Magellan Meridian GPS, and stuck a 256MB SD Card in the back. I was looking to load up all of Australia from the program Discover Australia Streets & Tracks. However it won't let me have a region bigger than 16MB and won't let me load up more than 4 regions, is there a way around this?
Thanks in Advance

Not that I am aware of.
On
mine I have all of Discover AUS loaded on a 256Mb card, but it is split into 17 'regions'. I just load the one from the card for the area I am in at the time.
The GPSOZ site has some good info on how to set this up, and an image of how to split up the country into regions.
I thought I also read somewhere that if you make the map files too large, then it makes the Meridian seem a bit sluggish....someone else might be able to confirm that.

Hello - If you want you can modify the Mapsend.ini file (in Magellan/DiscoverAus directory) to enable a bigger single region to be created - using a text editor (notepad) change the CONV_MEMORY_SIZE=16384 line to a bigger number eg =64000 for example. Warning - bigger map files may cause lagging and jamming sometimes (so Im told)
I use ~ 25mb regions - never have an issue ..but thats with and explorist so may be different.
Cheers
Greg

Yep, James is on the money. That is what I used.
Only aditional advice I can offer is to buy a card reader as
well.
This enables the memory card to be connected to a PC and act as a removable drive. They are available from Dick Smiths, Jaycar, Harvey Norman, etc.
They usually allow all types of memory cards to be installed (SD, XD, etc) in one of the slots, so they can be used for other purposes that may take a different card, such as a digital camera.
Each time you download a created "region" in DiscoverOz, it will have the same default name. You need to rename this to something other (e.g. WANorth for instance) before you download the next one, otherwise it will be overwritten.
