My woman got a $750 award at work which we have to spend on a weekend away from Brisbane. Where should we go?
Something green and mountains would be good or blue water.

Binna Burra at the back of the gold coast in the lamington national park is great it is reasonably priced and includes all meals there are heaps of bush walks and it is very peaceful.

I just returned from there last week.

I think you and your partner will love it

Eungalla.
Some cheap flights going on a lot of the airlines to get you to Mackay and it is just up in the hills from there. Make you feel like you are a million miles from work......nice.

Trevor.

as a local i'll second that, at this time of year you can watch the cane fires from the chalet. nice walking trails too. now is also a good time to visit the islands, winter means bargains at the resorts.

Have a look at this - Cedar Creek Lodges at Thunderbird Park - Tamborine.
www.cedarcreeklodges.com.au
Self contained cedar lodges beside the creek, in the rainforest.
With fireplace, and large glass windows looking out to the creek and palms.
Been to look - couldn't afford to stay, but wish I could.............................keith

Another good site for places www.montvilleaccommodation.com.au/
You could also try (very hexy in price but nice) the treehouses on the Baroon Dam. www.treetop.com.au/.

Rather than the fleeting and brief moment of selfish self-satisfaction of a couple of days away, you could experience the feeling of lifelong satisfaction that comes from giving the money to someone worthy like myself.
I could then use it to buy alcohol to mask the loss of self worth coming from accepting such a handout.
Everybody would be happy then!!

Port Douglas!

One of my favourite haunts.

Also a good drive through the Atherton Tablelands countryside.
Drive through to Mossman, then the Mossman Gorge, then along the Mossman Mount Molloy Road to Mareeba, (Coffee country) then Kennedy Highway to Cairns and back along the beachfront to Pt. Douglas.

Or, alternatively, you could do a cruise out to ribbon reef on one of the charter boats and do some fishing, or diving (Scuba/Snorkeling)

Aw, now I want to go up there again!!!!!
Especially when its WINTER down here.

Hey Reiner (a la teardrop) as Ian calls you! If you continue to call 'the love of your life' 'your woman' - she probably won't take you. I'll go with her somewhere green and mountainy. Congratulate Sam for me - and I agree about Ballandean and the wineries, if it's fantastic - we can all go next year. Yeah!

Ruth, Sam is strange like that she insists me coming along. It must be my charme and wisdom....lol
I think green and mountains is going to be it.
Let us know when you come down here, we have to catch up. Since the Caravan Show all we do is work and we are booked out to April next year.
Any plans coming this way?

cheers

Hi Reiner

Why not take her to the Condamine Gorge out behind Boonah. It is the head waters of the Murray Darling River ssytem. You cross the condamine river about 14 times (take your Land Cruiser.. I've done it in my Tucson) and then at the other end you can go around through the Queen Mary Falls and follow the road back to Boonah. On the way you come to the Mountain View Cafe which has beautiful cabins you can rent for a weekend. They have fabulous views. It's a top place.

Google it and you'll come across their site.

I love the area so much I went there 3 weekends in a row from Brisbane for a drive.

Cheers

Thank you to all for your ideas and tips. The trouble we have here in South East Qld is we have to many good places to go.
It looks like Spring Creek Cottages will be the winners and they are booked out to Sept. But that is not a problem. Some more camping before that :-)
Thanks again
cheers
