Was wondering does any body know of any one in sydney preferably in the Penrith area but not essential that makes what they call slider bars, like a side step but attaches to the chassis rails and comes out about the same as a set of side steps, we have been doing a bit more of the rough stuff lately and want to protect the sills etc as the alloy ones which were standard from toyota will crumple very easily if hit and are only bolted with brackets to the body itself, or am I better to get the ones from ARB that have the what they call brush bars that run down from the bullbar past the guard to a steel side step. Are these as strong as a steel slider and are they bolted to the chassis or the body. Excuse my ignorance on this issue as I know jack sh@t about steel and its strengh and welds etc. We were selling the old girl but other circumstances have put that on hold for a while now. Also thanks truckster for your time but sorry will have to give a miss this time. Regards Steve M

Stephen M, The ARB brush bars a good product and they might be what you are looking for they mostly attach in three places (on the bullbar, behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel. To the chassis rails.) I don;t know about prices for these but they would be a bit expensive.
I have built a decent set of rock sliders fro my Terrano, which are attached to the chassis rails and are strong enough to jack up the side of the vehicle with. The total cost was about $150 for the steel, and the welding my Dad did for me. If you want the design, send me an e-mail and I can get them to you. adunwell(at)gmail.com
Also, while I am thinking, my Father got his side bars from a wreckers on the Gold coast, for $300, so that might be an option.

Hi Steve

When leaving work today (in the dark) I spotted a Lux with a bar from "Quickfit" b/bars & t/bars I think, anyway I noted the number 97491209.
It looked good as a single 6" alloy tube bar with a pressed tread for door access area held on by 3 mounts. Not sure of how they "fixed " to body or chassis.

Regards
Andy
