Well for a first report, and at Jezza's encouragement, I'm submitting my first forum entry. We just returned from a very long awaited trip, Sydney-Broken Hill-Tibooburra-Cameron Corner-White Cliffs-Sydney. We were limited in scope a little by our second car which was a 2WD Mazda, as we weren't sure how it would handle the roads. It, and the driver, did brilliantly, with only a smallish hole in the petrol tank, fortunately on our rest day in Tibooburra. I recognised my first EO wheelcover here, and met a had a great chat with Jezza and Hildie. We had a great time sight seeing in Broken Hill - had four kids with us, aged 11,13,15,16 - and they all had various strategies for suffering the long distances their mothers led them on. Harry Potter and a few other books on CD have impressed themselves on the roads between BH, Tib and White Cliffs - while looking out, you're listening to the story which can be a great mix. While my kids were used to long distance travels, the others were novices.

Luckily, we missed the rain at both ends of our journey, which closed the roads for a few days. Really loved Tibooburra, something about that place, although it was exciting to sit on the Corner post, especially for the kids. White Cliffs was really interesting too, with Jock being a highlight - I thought he made quite a lot of sense, which is a worry, as he goes on about how mad he is!
There's something about getting out on the road and travelling which makes you want ever more of it, as many of those on this forum would agree. I can't wait to go again!
Thanks to all the Forumites who have helped me with my hitherto unspoken questions - now I'm a member, I might get a little more vocal.

Helena B,
Thanks for the trip report. Everyone should give a trip report to help others on their own trips. IMHO. Getting close to mine, only 17 more sleeps. Hope the roads dry sufficiently out by then.
Cheers,
Bros.
PS. This spell checker tells me that bros should be bras (among others) maybe. LOL.

Hello Helena B,

Its funny how once bitten by the outback travelling bug we all can't wait to do it all again !! Sounds like a good trip had by all and like "Bros" I would enjoy reading more summaries of trips away by other forumites as it helps with future planning.
Thanks.

Sharyn

Hi Helena,

Good to see you have broken the drought with the trip report - an enjoyable read, and your dead right about itching to get back out there.

Hope the foot/leg is on the improve, if you've got some time, stick some details in your rig/profile area.

Well done and I look forward to seeing some more posts from you.

Cheers,
Jezza
