In the battery section there is mention of both LED and a LCD car battery monitoring and pre warning system. Does anyone know where the LCD unit can be purchased and at what cost?

I run the above from Jaycar electronics and hook it up to the second battery. It uses very little power.
XC-0116 $39.95

But theres plenty of options out there.

This is what I have been using for the past two years and I find it terrific for the following reasons:

1. Shows main starting battery and auxiallary votage levels at the same time.
2. Both main and auxiallary are alarmed for low voltage (eg: alt failure or aux not charging)
3. Is temperature compensated for more accurate voltage readings.
4. Shows charge state in both percentage and voltage with coloured scales.
5. Both displays can have their alarms turned off and either or both displays turned off.

The unit is far from cheap - about $140 - but as I said it works for me. I also find it handy in that I know exactly when the main batt is charged and the Redarc Smart Start switches in to the auxillaries, as the leds light up and there is an audible beep. As my auxillaries are in a camper, I can monitor the charging state from the cab whilst driving to give me a warm, fuzzy feeling that all is well in the charging department.

Craig I presume from your post that it is a Redarc product, if not what is it called and where do you get it.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried the jaycar but it reads low and has me panicking until I put a proper meter across the terminals. The one from ABR is the one I am interested in.

Hi Mickm,

I just purchased the one that Craig has pictured in his thread. Purchased it from Opposite Lock in Rockhampton QLD. I think it was ordered from WA.

Hi mickm52,

the LED battery monitor brand is "Chargemaster", and is part of OL's dual battery system that they sell.
