Looking for experienced, qualified, reliable person in Perth WA to install solar system in Jayco Offroad Eagle '04.
I have batteries, solar panels and will be running 240V, 3 stage charger/power supply in camper.
I want a quality job from both safety and system efficiency aspects. I want to make sure standards are met re 240V for now and resale later.
Yes I'm sure some will say it's easy, DIY but thats not for me thanks.
Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks

The only reputable 12 volt supplier and fitter I'm aware of in Perth was the 12 Volt Shop. Although I now live on the East coast I still contact them for tips and advice.

www.12volt.com.au

They are virtually across the road from Camec in Kewdale Rd, Welshpool.

Thanks wizard but early on I made some inquiries there and the bloke was Vvery tired and didn't show much interest at all. I feel their main interest is selling the bits.

Try a mob called,,,Install A Gadget,,,0414 433 899.
They have done a few minor things on my truck, and i think they do solar, but they definately do all 12Vstuff. And they are mobile.

Keep in mind that for the 240V part of the wiring an electrician's licence is required. Check that whoever you chose for the job has a valid licence.
If I had more time I'd do it - have recently retired - but I seem to be busier than ever.

Gday Klaus, don't know if they can do the 240 side of the question, thats why i only mentioned the 12V stuff, but you are 100% right, gotta make sure the right type of sparky does the 240 bits. Best way is for the bloke to have a gasbag with them and go from there i think.

Perth Caravan Repair Centre in Cannington are qualified and experienced for such jobs, but they charge like a wounded bull.

There are two other places south of the river but I don't remember the names. If you call Caravanland [Jayco dealer] they will know who they are.

Hmmm!

Don't like your chances for a quick resolution sastra.
Most Companies install what they sell, but in your case, you already have all the bits.

How can you make sure "standards are met" re 240V for now and resale later.
Anything could happen to the installed equipment between now and then.

Perhaps you could try some of the Caravan outlets. The solution is not new, but the equipment used in providing it may be different to what you currently have.

We too, have an O/B Eagle.

Keep it simple. Do not fit the panel to the roof of the van. It simply won't get enough sun.

We have a panel, with a regulator and 10 metres of thick cable with a merit plug on the end of it. The panel gets stored under one of the mattresses and gets pulled out when we stop. The merit/hella plug on the end of the cable simply plugs into a female plug on the battery box and I move the panel around during the day to get maximum sun.

I also am then able to plug the panel into the aux battery in the car as needed.

It's a flexible system. Very simple and cost effective.
