i saw a boat trailer system at a cp in Ceduna 3 or 4yrs ago called an Aqua trail(for up to about 4m tinnies) not sure how it is spelt but that is what the owner called it. It consisted of a tow ball hitch which fitted to the bow(keel) of the boat with 2 bolts, at the very rear of the boat(the back where the motor attaches) on both corners there was a wheel assemblely made from stainless steel with a little (narrow) coil spring that attached on 3 mounting pins protruding from the back of the boat that the wheel assembly was held with spring pins (same thing use to hold pins in farm machinery). So when it was backed into the water u went to the back removed 3 pins from each side and the take the 2 bolts out that hold the tow ball catch and u can carry your boat trailer by your self very easily.
Have searched the net and have found nothing so thought some one else may know of it's manufacturer?

mattie,

Sounds like a practical solution for private property use but I would suggest it probably couldn't be registrable and therefore not practical for towing on public thoroughfares.

You can also buy (from just about any boat retailer) a pair of clamp-on jockey wheels, which again are OK for short distances and wheeled manually, rather than towed with a vehicle.

This was one of the reasons I bought a folding trailer which is registrable and capable of trailering a boat considerable distances on public roadways, boatramps, etc.

Mattie,

You could be right there.
Just did a search on Google and found reference to this product being available at one time from Custom Craft Marine in Caloundra, QLD. 07 5491 2167 or 07 5491 6966.

Camped next to a guy at Sesia, He told me that it was road registerable , but limited to 80km , he used to swap the plates between his CT and the boat ( Vbad )

I saw a couple on ebay about 2 weeks ago. If it's the same one it is a house boat and caravan in one. I thought it was called aquavan, but could be wrong. It was a buy now for 102K.Have a look at this:// www.aquavan.com.au/. I pretty sure this is what you saw.

Showed it to the wife the other night (the aquavan that is) and like you she liked the idea but wasn't impressed with the price. I told her we could sell the house, that went down like a lead balloon.Women, they just don't have a sense of humour.:))))))))

i thought for 120k they would have put an outboard on there that u could at least use it to ski behind, probably twin 250hp would do it(if not there is a lot of width to ad one or two more)!!!!

Hi All
I contacted the marine place in QLD(Custom Marine) the chap that made these aqua trail units went broke and someone else bought the patent and then had them manufactured out of Australia some where and also went broke and this marine place above bought all existing units and sold the last couple of units only a few weeks or so back, i asked if someone had the design some where but he said that the chap that originally designed it has since passed away as well so unless i come across one to copy it sounds as if the unit is lost.
