I can also vouch for the crew at Telstat. I had my Codan HF transferred fom the Troopy to the Patrol and the service was great.

I concur Peter James at Lara Electronic is excellent.

He will also advise you of the Bcon HF messaging system which once you see you will want to have.

Wheelybin have a look here at the FAQ on the Bcon site.

www.bcon.com.au

It should answer you questions.
The system allows the traveler (You with the HF) to send positions from your HF linked to your GPS to the Bcon transceivers these positions are plotted on a web page that you grant access to your contacts (family & Friends etc)
They can then track your progress by logging on to the site.
The system also allows text messages to be sent from the travelers HF radio to the contact who receive them as emails in their In box.
The contacts can log on and send you a message back via the system

Its an excellent system it allows family and friends to track your progress and to communicate with you via the web relatively easily.

It has full system function with the Codan NGT and the 9323 series radios and limited function with some Barrett models due to the Barrett being quite some way behind Codan on the technology front.

Thanks John
Ive just come back from a quick trip to the Pacific Highway where Mervyn the wheeler dealer spokesperson for VKS737 from Sydney was intercepted on his way south and he gave me a brochure.

Thanks for the site ref Ill study it as it looks like NGT is in OK.

Ian the NGT is a brilliant piece of gear, Codan have produced an amazing unit.

Make sure that whoever you get it from loads the latest recreational profile in it.
It will make the unit a very easy to use.

Cheers

John I previously had a 9323 and have had the NGT for nearly three years now and the eprom has been upgraded once but Merve thinks another upgrade is required if I want to run with Beacon Message.

Anyway Ill check this aspect out with Todd Cassells at Coopers Plains SEQ when I know more.

Thanks again.
Ian
