G'Day All,
Have been toying with the idea of fitting a reversing camera to the Patrol, up until now a suitable size / quality screen has been the main stumblign point.
I dropped into JB Hi-fi the other day and they had a small, (3"), drop down screen attached to a camera on display. The picture from the screen was amongst the best I had seen, the screen was small enough to mount on the roof above the rear view mirror, and the fact I could drop it down or flip it up was really appealing.
I did a search on the net and can't find and info on it. The JB price was $465 including a small camera, not the infrared type which I would prefer.
Anybody seen these, or something similar to which I can compare price / quality?
Regards
Rolande

rolande,
Some of the forumites have purchased Systems from Poron.
Looking at the Products on their Web site, I can see two different types of swivel screens and would assume you could "mix and match" a screen and camera of your choice. Give them a ring and get a price......No association with the company...etc...etc.

Hi Rolande, I just fitted a reversing camera system today to the Prado it is a POLARIS brand, 5.5in LCD monitor and a day/night camera the kit I got is the CM60, great pitcher and the camera has a microphone in it. I am just wating for night time to see how it is in the dark. (In WA) There web is www.polariscarcare.com.au they also do the one that JB Hifi do.
Check it out and see what you think.

G'Day Steve,
Yep, the CM 35 is the one I saw in JB. Was looking at the same camera as the one you purchased, but with the smaller screen.
Would appreciate a follow-up on what you thought of the camera, especially at night. Also, did you mount inside or outside the vehicle?
Regards
Rolande

Hi again Rolande, I mounted the camera on the outside of the car and flush mounted in the bumper. The camera is a 110deg model I should have upgraded to the 130deg camera. Our main reason for getting one is there has been a few close calls at my sons school and the wife diddnt want to be the one to run over someone. As for the night time pic it is very good, no need for spotlights at all.

G'Day Steve,
Thanks for the follow up. Was worried if I mounted it outside that it would get dirt on the lens and hey presto - no picture.
Have seen a few mounted inside the back door, within the sweep of the wiper, to get rid of this problem.
See how I go, s'pose,
Regards
Rolande
