I have recently moved to Central/Western Queensland and have been struck by the vast distances to and from anywhere and the high cost of fuel.
The diesel engine was originally developed to ruin on Peanut Oil. Biodesiel fuel appears to be a viable alternative to the commercial pump diseiels available today.
For over 20 years I worked in the Oil Refining and Chemical Manufacturing industries and am now thinking about setting up to make Biodesiel which will work in unmodified diesel engined car and trucks. There are many articles on the Internet on savings from biodesiel and benifets to the environment.
Anyone in the Central/Western areas of Queensland with an interest in either
1)just as a user or
2) making some test quanties of Biodesiel from fats/oils which (hopefully) can be used and reap some benifets or
3) just interested
are invited to reply and we can organise a private discussion group for us to progress the ideas.

Hi there Turist,
I suggest you post this on:
www.biofuelsforum.com/
I know there are likely to be farmers in your vicinity doing it.
If you get a reactor going and have any made I'll be up in October and can buy some from you ;-)
I'll be going from
Birdsville to BNE to
Springsure to
Adelaide in the first couple of weeks of Oct.
Ciao for now
Andrew who smells like fish and chips.

Hi there Andrew,
Thanks for your reply. I have not yet made any practical quantity ob biodesiel and am working on sourcing local suppliers. Problems like where to get methanol – the closest supplier found is in
Brisbane (2 days drive from here at $60 for 20 liters) The amount needed for fish and chip frying oil might determine if the project is a goer.
I was hoping to find a few people with a common interest to talk about our problems and help keep each other motivated. Certainly I will soon post on the biofuelsforum site as you suggested. There should be some local farmers taking advantage of biodesiel - if only I can contact them.
I have now created a new email t.urist@hotmail.com for contact on biodesiel.
David
