We leave school, get a job, fall in love, get married, have some kid's, work hard to buy a house and mass some assetts, along the way sometimes finding it hard to find the time and finances to spend as much time with our kids as we would like, but we all manage somehow.
We are now in early 50's and its fantastic to be part of the cycle again, as our kids partner up, buy a house, etc, and start having grandkids.
What a fantastic time of our lives, 2 grandsons, 5 and 2 and we love having them around and camping with us, and last night the "first grandaughter", and Nan is uncontrollable ! and a forth grandchild due in January !
"We wouldnt be dead for quid's"
I quess the down side to the life cycle is watching our parents getting older and requiring life saving surgery's, but they are all still here and enjoying the moments again of great grandkids.
I guess you can gather that things are pretty happy around here this morning, but it makes you think about the really valuable things in your life, and getting our priorities in the right order. Cheers to all the granparents this morning .

Pesty

You are right.

We've got a couple of kids work overseas, and one with her family have been staying with us for the past 5 weeks. Next Tuesday they go home again. The house will be neat and tidy again, no kids squabbling and no little girl racing up to our bedroom fora cuddle first thing in the morning.

We are not looking forward to that at all - just love the chaos and the coming and going while they are home.

Family is great - and its great we have things like Skype & email to keep in touch. But its not the same as the daily contact while they are here.

Well - there's always next year to look forward to. Meantime we just need to hook up the van and head off somewhere!

Yep - its a great time of life. Wouldn't be back at work for quids.

"Nan is uncontrollable" Now Pesty it might be that Glenda is getting clucky and wanting another one of her own!

Has been a while since we caught up but you folks never seem to come our way!! Might see you over Christmas or at Warraweena if we go there. Congratulations on the first grandaughter - seems like only months ago that we were catching up with you and you had to race off to the birth of a grandson - must have been in September 2004 so it is ages ago.

Sounds an awesome time - congratulations to you both.

Doc,
Quote:"but you folks never seem to come our way!! "

An explanation might be in order.......in our case it's because I work sooooo hard that I can't get away long enough to visit you. However, in Pesty's case it's because his repeated applications for a VV (Victorian Visa) have all been turned down due to the fact that his reputation has preceeded him.!!! ;-))

Hi Andrew and Jen,
Thanks for the wishes, dont think Mrs Pesty will be having any more, the hardware was doctored a long time ago, anyway she has her hands full now as with 3 on the go and another one due in January .
We havent been over your way for a long time, but we will come and annoy you when we do, you dont have enough red sand over there?
Close with the grandson birth, was October 04, have started taking him camping on a few trips now.
Yes we hope to be at Waraweena so will catch up then if not before.

Roachie is not quite right with the VV, the reason i get declined is that they scan the cruiser and reject it because it has a nissan nuts drool all over the outside from Roachie every time he thinks im not looking!

Well Pesty - I can understand how poor old Roachie drools all over your car. Crickey mate - you should cut him some slack!! Imagine how you would feel if you had to replace every component in the car with after market bits and pieces. I reckon he will be looking for some after market panels soon.

One is reminded of Grandpa's old axe; 6 new handles and 3 new heads, but it is still Grandpa's old axe. S'pose it is still Roachies' 2000 Patrol.

Blokes,

I'm sorry it's taken me sooo long to respond .....what with being flat out here at the sweat shop working my coight off and in my spare time having to help out numerous tojo owners whose 'trusty' steads have broken down on the side of the road.......well, I've just been unable to respond to your thoughtless, cutting, un-called-for barbs. Luckily, I have the hide of a Rhino and do not tend to take these rash statements to heart like a lesser person might. ;-))

I have a brother in Melbourne who fails to understand why we never go there to visit he and his family either. I guess those bloody Mexicans just don't get it, do they? Here we are living in the best state, in the best country in the world....why the hell would we even think of venturing over THAT direction???? hahaha

Funny thing Pesty, my wife and I were only talking about this a little while ago. It is just coming up 12 months since my son’s partner died leaving him with two lovely sons, 4 and 8.

They are beaut kids/grandkids and it sure makes it bitter/sweet.

We can relate to everything you wrote, savour every minute of your time together.

Enjoy, Grandpa and Grandma P.

Cheers

Thanks Micheal, that is a very sad thing to happen to any young family, have some feeling of what it feels like, we lost a 3 day old daughter in 1981, but to lose mum would be dreadful.

Congratulations. Know exactly where you are coming from. Margaret and I have spent today at school with two grandchildren for grandparents day. I know that the school is looking to extract a dollar or two but who cares. Just to walk hand in hand through their world is an experience not to miss.
The best part is we get to do it all over again tomorrow morning at another school for the other two grandchildren.
Ain't life great? Makes it hard to go traveling though!!!

Oh Mr and Mrs Pesty - a grandaughter, at last! What fun. Just before I read your Post this a.m. I checked my emails and there is a 12 week scan of my first grandjellybean/blob - so thrilling. On the 18 week scan the kids have promised me 4D movies - and out here we can't even get mobile reception let alone 3G telephones!!
Hope you bring them all to Warraweena n ext July - I'll help babysit and Jen (Big Kidz) can suffer them next day for breakfast when she has a hangover from too much birthday celebrations. Yes!!!!
Congratulations - and as we near our retirement (!?!) our conversations have been getting sintimental (oops - Freudian slip) sentimental as well. I felt every word of your Post.
Love from Ian and Ruth (no yabbies - and fish have gone off the bite).

I would love to babysit Pesty's grandkids!! Kaitlyn will help..she is a natural little mum. Told me the other day she wants me to have more!! Didnt go into the explanation of the "snip" that prevents anymore!! Although there is a good story that goes with that snip. I am sure Andrew wont mind me telling at Warraweena!!

I bet you were over the moon to get the scan, amazing modern medicine isnt it, combined with modern tecnolgy to beam it to Birdsville.
Yes will see how many we are allowed to bring to Waraweena will have full house if allowed to bring 3, but will also have 6 month old as well by then so will leave that one home, not gunna be room for 4 at a time.
Yes will be interesting to hear Jens version of the SNIP story over a glass of wine or 6 wont it Ruth

My wife and I dreamed of doing all sorts of things when I retired, but fortunatly we did many of them before then, including a dream of living in the UK for a while. Came back to Oz in january, and a month ago my wife died. The "C" caught up.
