QUICK QUESTION, IS IT OKAY TO FIT A TURBO TO A NEW 1HZ MOTOR, OR SHOULD THERE BE A FEW KLM'S ON THE CLOCK?

Yes, I would think so as Toyota don't wait till the car has done a few kms before they fit them.
I fitted (read that "paid someone") one to our 1HZ and have never looked back. Go for it!!

Brooka,

Go for it - it is always a good time to fit a turbo. For some good advice you could speak to the guys at TLC in O'Connor - all they do are Cruisers. Their number is (08) 9314 3714. They do a good job on my Cruiser.

Hi Brooka27,

My 1HZ 80 series went from the showroom to Mike Vine Turbo's near Brisbane in 1990 and now has 300,000km on the clock. Neither motor nor turbo have ever been touched since that time and motor doesn't use a drop of oil etween changes. There have also been many improvements to the 1HZ since mine was built so you should have no problems at all.
I think the secret is good quality synthetic oils changed every 5000km and don't have the turbo boost above 8.5 psi.

Good luck with your decision,

Brett

You will almost definitly have warranty issues if you are fitting a turbo to a brand new vehicle

Brooka
I have heard very good reports about DTS Turbos on 1HZ engines - I want to turbo and Intercool mine, but it will have to wait until funds allow it.... I'm not sure who does these in Perth...

Try a Denco kit. I have fitted a few but just remember to keep your boost under 8psi and your EGT's down under 500 and you will have no problems.
