Where did you read/hear that No 1. I'm sure that there was a news item recently where they said that Pluto's ranking as a planet had been confirmed after years of speculation.

Ahhh...not quite right- Pluto is actually defined as a Dwarf Planet...
There is in fact 12 planets in our Solar System

I wish some people would check the facts before they post !!!

ha ha ha

8 planets, not 12...get your facts together
from the australian
"For the past week, an assembly of 2500 delegates at the International Astronomical Union has been debating Pluto's future, as well as the status of three other bodies: Ceres, until now regarded as the solar system's largest asteroid; Charon, one of Pluto’s moons; and a newly discovered object called 2003 UB313.

One proposal was for the solar system to be expanded to contain 12 planets in two tiers, but overnight in Prague, by a show of hands in its concluding session, the IAU decided that there could be only EIGHT.

"The eight planets are Mercury, Earth, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune," said the IAU resolution that confirmed Pluto's relegation to "dwarf planet" status, where it will not even be the largest object."

I really don't give a rat's arse what the IAUs resolution is....
Anyhow, who is the IAU and what right have they to decide such things.
I have my own specifications and definitions of such issues- and the IAU have no right or authority to make such outrageous claims.

::who or what gives them the bloody right to take Pluto out of it?::

I'm guessing they were the ones who ratified it as a planet in the first place, therefore probably have the right to remove it.

I think we should just leave good old Pluto alone to do his own thing......

If they didn't know what they were doing then how do they know what they're doing now.. I say they should be stripped of all authority and Nudie decides whats what.

The IAU have always had ultimate authority over the solar system, unless you count God.

Nudie, the IAU (and God too I suspect) decrees that Nissans are OK as are Toyota's but only the lighter colour ones.

I cannot accept that you are over the moon as the moon is a stellar body and under your assertion it would disappear also, hence you would be over nothing. And we all know that anything over nothing is infinity, implying that you are ipso facto, God, or a "dwarf God".

Expect mass protest from Plutoans. They are appealling the decision and planning to send a delegation to Earth that should arrive in about 40 years.

Given the relative size of Pluto to Earth, it is not surprising that the 250,000,612 Plutoans at the conference were ignored and their protests largely overlooked.

One scientist noticed a flurb of them (Flurb is the collective noun for Plotoans), however when he sneezed they were blown away.

They have lodged a protest which is expected to be heard next semester

Alloy, reliable photographs of Uranus are not available as it is almost always surrounded in tight clusters of haemorrhoids (or ar$eteroids)

Looking at your photo Nudie I always thought that you might be from Pluto . ( That does not give you the right to denigrate squirrels ).

PS It appears Pluto has been on the way out for a while - our spell checker does not recognise it !
