I have a couple rellies flying to WA from Vic in March next year & we would like to fly to
Broome for a few days while they are here.
Can anyone suggest "must see"
places that can be visited by hire car during the 4 or 5 days we will be there?
Also any recommendations on motels to stay at (or to avoid) ?
All comments welcomed
Regards
Neil

Neil ,
I was there for a week this year with my wife . I think the best things we did were a visit to WILLIE'S
Creek pearl farm , the sunset cruise on a lugger and I guess the obligatory camel ride along
the beach at sunset ( bloody uncomfortable ).
We stayed at Seashells Resort which was very nice . Most of the good
places to stay are semi - serviced apartments . I think the main thing is to stay within an easy walk of
Cable Beach so that you can have some early morning walks and enjoy the beautiful sunsets .
The best restaurant in
Broome is the Zoo at
Cable Beach - great for breakfast lunch or dinner .
Cable Beach Resort has nice food , but is really over the top price wise .
If you hired a 4WD you could go up to the Cape which I hear is beautiful , but it will leave you short on time in
Broome .
Cheers ,
Willie .

If you hire a 4x4 and can fit it in a trip to
Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek 3 -4 hrs from
Broome on the
Derby side of the
Gibb river road is a great intro to the Kimberly. I also agree the
Willie Creek Pearl farm tourn is one of the best value things you can do. Also in town if you are lucky enough to score a low (zero) tide a trip out from town beach over the mudflats to the Catalina wrecks is worth doing, walking, but watch the tide.

You gotta go to the town jetty, firstly to get a good handle of just how big those tides are, but also to watch the kids catch gardies while the queenies prowl around below.
