g'day,
I am after a wiring diagram or info on making the programming cable for a tx3400, a already have the software.
I was thinking of just cutting the end of a phone cable and then just attaching a com port plug to the end, just need to know witch pins to attach the wires too.
thank you

I have the tx3400 and software and from my searching, i have come to the conclusion that it much easier to just purchase a cable.

From what i can gather, they talk about max232 chips etc......not a simple matter of pin in / pin out even though it is a serial connection. I'm looking at a cable from here ==> www.radioworks.com.au/category5_1.htm

To recieve commercial frequencies, eg; police, ambo's fire, ses.
saves having a scanner.

The tx3400 amongst others can be programmed to receive (only) another 10 channels. I currently use it to monitor SES and Emergency Services in my area of work. It is also benefitial to use the software and interface lead to set up the radio for various other features eg. disable buttons, CTCSS setup, Selcall setup, change some display settings etc.

I have a tx4400 that I can program myself. With the NSW police now digital (well, Sydney anyway) there really isn't anything worth programming.

Of course if anyone has ideas on channels worth listening to, I'd luv to know.

you could program in some more UHF CB channels and make scanning quicker for select bunch of them;-)

You can have Group scanning or Open scanning on the TX4400
I used to group scan just the police and trucker channels, avoiding the repeater crap that is the Sydney scene. As Lyds said the police have digitalled now so i have the truckers and a couple of regularly used channels 18 for caravans and 10 for club stuff on Group Scan....

Melbourne Police have gone digital (or somewhere else) as well, hence I would like to program in something else.

Dont like seeing the 10 extra channels go to waste :-)
