Hey Guys,
Just a quickie, can anyone advise me on CDMA coverage in Innaminka. I have a Nokia 6385 (one of the last surviving dinosours but it works) and a genuine Nokia car kit with an 8db gain antenna.
Going on hols and needing coverage is not my idea of fun but sometimes there is the need to keep in touch.
We plan to
camp along the river and do not very much, having to go up to the pub for coverage would be...........convenient..........nice even.

We didn't get coverage with our Nokia CDMA there last year Duncs, but we don't have a car kit.

I have just returned from a trip a bit to the south and west of there and was amazed at the
places where I _did_ get CDMA coverage and good signal strength too! No guarantees and if you are going serious bush _don't_ rely on a mobile phone.

Mike
I know it won't work if I get seriously out bush. Like you i have been amazed by just where I have been able to get coverage, and where I haven't.
We are planning a trip to Innaminka and may need to keep in touch with people in
Sydney for business reasons, lousy timing but it just may have to be.
How far SW of Innaminka were you when you got coverage. Name a trak or other landmark and I will find it.

Probably a bit too far south to be of much use to you but I had coverage around the southern end of the Strzelecki (sp?) Regional Reserve.

Hi Duncs,we were there in June last & pretty sure no coverage like at
Birdsville.Opposite the pub they do have pay phone, though that is probably why you will go to town.

No phone coverage at
Innamincka. The nearest CDMA coverage is at
Tibooburra. The Nokia 6385 is a great phone -
mine should last until the end of CDMA in 2008.
Have a look at Telstra coverage maps.

Hi Duncs,
I think you will find the closest cover is
Lyndhurst,
Leigh Creek (SA), Tiboorburra (NSW),
Quilpie (QLD),
Coober Pedy and Eldunda (Stuart Highway).
Tough I know!

Add
Thargomindah (Qld) for CDMA.
But only the one tower in town.
Go to coverage maps
Site Link
and type in
Innamincka.
You might have to zoom out a little to find the nearest coverage !

Thanks everyone,
I did know about the slot machine for phone coverage thanks Pesty. I was pretty sure I would have no coverage and to tell the truth I am not dissapointed. A holiday with the phone is not really a holiday.
Oh and I will think of you all at work..............no.............no that's a lie I probably won't think of you at all.
