I Have a 1984 BJ42 and I am having a lot of trouble getting a service manual for the body and engine. The only one I can find is by Max Ellery and this is pretty ordinary. Can anyone help me with some good manuals

Go to the newsagent & buy yourself a parts peddler, unique cars or one of the 4wd classified magazines. Scan the ads and you will find a company in Sydney (i can't remember the name) but they sold me a complete set of genuine workshop manuals for my 84 Patrol turbo deisel.
Also try Mountain Motor books in QLD Ph:07 3397 6845 or email: freeway@eis.net.au.
The other people to try is Wheels Of Time in Melbourne. PH 03 9792 3944.
Maybe you should also try Toyota, they still do a great range of manuals for their vehicles, if your local bloke is switched on he may be able to source you one from NZ or Japan. My local bloke always goes that extra mile like that, he found me a rear window rubber for our Celica in NZ & it didn't cost me any extra.

Good Luck,

Karl.
