Really depends on what you want.
Alpana Station (give John my regards) have fairly basic facilities for camping/vans but you would likely be the only ones there. There are minimal facilities - no
shop etc. (this is the
camp sites - including powered ones, near the main
homestead. He is restoring the old
homestead ("pug and pine") there, and has an interesting old Land Rover in the shed there ;-)
I believe John also has a
bush camping site which he has set up further away from the
homestead, but I don't recall what facilities there are there.
Angorichina on the other hand is a very capably managed
camp-ground with a
well stocked shop/bottle
shop etc. about 20 minutes away from
Alpana Station. At this time of year there would usually only be a few others, plus most nights there is one of the backpacker style tour groups there - Greedy-Grape Tours or whatever they are called. If you decide on Angorichina give David my regards too - great bloke.
Angorichina has lot of van sites - I'd guess fifty off, plus units/cabin etc.
Alpana Station has a number of 4x4 tracks on the station including his Mt Samuel tracks - including what he calls the Mt Buggery Gorge Challenge. You go over and along the ABC Range and the
Heysen Range - nice mix of rugged hills and rocks, great
views in most directions, particularly South and East. One of his station tracks comes into the back of
Blinman Falls too - if you are blessed with rain, I am sure it
would be great place to be - although there was no
water there a few weeks ago.
Reasonably adventurous, but nothing you couldn't do in anything with low range - but some different and interesting scenery. A couple of steep climbs. A few rocky gorges to travel through slowly. Some great lookouts and nice station tracks. On the Southern side he also has some nice springs which had quite a bit of nice
water in them.
I hope that helps,
Andrew.
