ARB F/F about 1.5 years old and has received mild, occasional use. Just last week it stopped chilling completely. The motor will run, however, it will not get cool to any degree. Not a voltage/amperage issue since since we tried it on the home circuit. Anyone experience this? Suggestions?
thanks,
mark

I'd take it back to ARB and ask them if they are prepared to exercise goodwill and fix it outside the warranty period - I don't know who's product they rebadge but if it's not one of the Chinese cheapies then they ought to be very sympathetic – especially as it’s only had light use. How much did it cost?
Sounds a bit like it’s lost it’s gas.

most refrigeration has a low pressure cutout that should stop the compressor running if gas is lost. Either way DO NOT RUN IT as the gas carries the oil. If you lose the gas charge you lose most or all of the oil also.

I think the internal fan would be a good place to start, I don't have that brand but my 3 12v compressor fridge/freezers have had the fans replaced, they are just like a computer fan and seem to not like sitting idle for any length of time through lack of use. Although
mine did not stop chilling completely but were noticeably warmer.

G'day RARECJ8, Yeah as has been said, ARB offers a good warranty period on their fridge/freezers. Same thing happened to ours last year .... a new fan fixed the problem

Could also be a blocked venturi tube. That happened to my engel that didnt see much use. Aparantly leaving them and not using them is not good for them.

gentlemen, thanks for the helpful responses. Taking or sending it to ARB is an expensive undertaking-- the freight charges will be quite high. The unit was won as a raffle item at the Las Vegas, NV SEMA show but the warranty should still be honored. When power is applied, the LED lights come on, the fan runs, aparently like it should, but it does not get cold at all, just sits there running to no avail, regardless of the dial setting. Will check the tube and short of sending it to ARB, i'll call them up and ask some questions.
This unit replaces an older first generation ARB cooler we've had for many years and it was recently pressed back into service due to the dead, newer unit. Once the mystery is solved, i'll post up.
thanks again.
